I have an IR port on my laptop and I was just wondering IF this was all possible. Anyone know of software I can buy or try to control my components..?

Most Laptop IR ports are IRda and have Terrible range (See PDA forums here)

Your best bet is to go through a Ethernet to IR adaptor like the Global Cache GC-100. Build a Web page with all your conrols and have fun.
