This is a shameless attempt to use this forum for advertising a new web site. Legitimate ads can be purchased. This forum is not intended for competitors to use for free promotions. I am sure that they would not appreciate someone doing this at their expense on their own site.

This new site IMHO will be an asset to the pro custom guys and major positive trickle down effect to consumers and to current Remote Central users.

Perhaps time for a comment from Remote Central Guys....

This is not an ad.. This is a notification to custom installers... this is more like an addition to rc... I've been using rc for alomst a year now and I am excited that some people came together to create a place that we could talk about more client sensitive material.. I still and will continue to use rc's board...

Brijaws: I do agree with EXT that it is advertising (i.e. you are trying to get the readers of this board to go to your site). But Daniel Tonks is the owner of this site, not EXT.

This is such crap! RC gets PLENTY of visits, has a crapload of visitors, and is a GREAT SITE. Integrationpros.com has the potential to be a great site and be very beneficial to the custom installer if they had a large member base. He is not trying to steal members from this site, he is just letting them know that there is another place for them to talk shop at without clients reading what we say. As far as "Free advertising" goes...That's a bunch of crap too seeing as though he doesn't advertise on his site yet and has nothing to benefit from. If Daniel has a problem with the whole thing then that would make him out to be far different than I think he is.

And he (or she) only has made 41 posts in the last year. I see he (or she) has been really beneficial to the site.

To all my fellow installers, integrators and general Remote Central Junkies (which I am...errr...was...one):

It was in NO way my intention to cause this poopie storm....I have several items to address, and points to make, then I will sink quietly back into my site (clearly mentioned above, but out of respect for DANIEL TONKS and this site, I will not mention it again).

1) One of you asked who EXT is, well that's Eric Tonks, as near as I can tell from the e-mail that was received today in reference this post. Not sure of the relationship to Daniel, and not sure if it's the official position of RC, or that of one faction thereof....

2) We are not trying to steal RC's members or sponsors. We identified a need that WAS NOT BEING MET by RC, which is fine. This site is a very complete and professionally managed resource, but even they can't do everything, and no one expects them to! We have simply constructed a site geared TOWARD THAT NEED. The response to several posts, ON THIS SITE, ABOUT THAT NEED, was overwhelming.

3) Based on the response to posts at this site, and the rapidly growing member base at the other site, I would say that we have started to achieve our goal of providing a special service to a special crowd. Further, EXT, based on the number of hits on the OTHER site, that are directly linked from this site, I would say a large number of people and RC users DO appreciate what we are doing, and find it as an ADJUNCT resource to Remote Central. You know what, I'm one of the webmasters if the other site, and I still visit this MORE....jeez....

4) We did attempt to contact RC to set up a bartering arrangement for actual advertising, which really, this is not. Below, in it's entirety, is the e-mail that I sent to Daniel Tonks on 3-15-2003 at 6:50P.M. mountain time. It was sent from the e-mail address [email protected], and NO attempt was made to hide who I was. I am a long time poster, and enjoyer of your site, and it's members! Members like Larry Fine, McNasty, QQQ, ericstac, Ernie, the list goes on, and on, and on, have been immeasurably helpful to me in my endeavors to be the best I can be. I value EVERY post on this site that relates to my daily work, and will continue to do so for some time. I would never do anything to jeapordize my relationship with these fellow posters or with RemoteCentral. I just wanted to get the word out about a new ADJUNCT site, that might serve as a second stop for info, if it couldn't be found here. The prevoiusly mentioned e-mail, shown below, has never been replied to. The first reply was the post today by EXT, followed by an e-mail to BriJaws.

Dan,

have greatly valued the site for a very long time. RC has helped me through many a difficult job!

We have started a site dedicated to professional A/V and integration installers, and would not only value your input, but also your support. If you could implement a banner type link to our site, we would be happy to reciprocate. Please let us know what you think of the site, as well as how we can forge a mutually beneficial relationship.

[Link: 66.159.163.6] Domain name pending approval this evening!

Look forward to working with you!

As you can see, I sent this e-mail, before we even registered a domain name. Again, it received no response.

I sincerely apologize for violating the sanctity of this site, it won't happen again!

By the way EXT....what ever happened to the bandpass guy, or the super duper cable tester chick, or...oh well...never mind!
