Are any of y'all familiar with this video matrix unit from Xantech? I'm going to a Xantech training next week and am looking for some information in advance. Thanks a bunch.

Looks good on the website, although not much information there. Is it stand alone?
Rear panel photo?

(Panorama)

Its basically a matrix switcher with built in Baluns. Component takes up all pairs but IR so if you need to get the audio there... you need to stack 2 of them and have 2 wall plates in the zone.

The CAT5 does not carry audio to the wallplate?

The Panorama is analog only. It uses each twisted pair for a signal. One pair is dedicated for IR pass... so.
I.E
Orange = Y+
OrangeT = Y-
Green = CR+
GreenT = CR-
Brown = CB+
BrownT = CB-
Blue = IR Signal
BlueT = Ir Ground

So if you were just doing composite video then you could carry analog audio on the other 2 pairs.

But if you want to send COMPONENT VIDEO, you need to use one panorama for that and then a second for AUDIO (but it could be analog Left and Right AND Digital Coax) as you have 3 signals that you can send.

On the Monitor side you need to have a wall plate for each of the 2 cat-5s.

If you don't need audio, then the run is one cat-5 from the Panorama to the wall plate for video. (if you are using component)

Source------>
Source------>Panorama (COMPONENT)---->Display
Source------>Panorama (audio)----------->Display or receiver/amp

Thanks for the Panorama info. Now back to the Xantech. Has anyone used it?

So far this crap doesn't work with the HDRXSG01 receivers. Xantech says that I have 2 faulty receivers. I bet when I get the receivers back they will say it's the HD44CC5. Then I will have to RMA that too. I am using the Russound VBHD kit temporarily, but the video quality sucks just through a 3 foot CAT5 cable that I was testing with. Has any one used the HD44CC5 and HDRXSG01 with good results?

Xantech has been sending people to us in the last two days to buy DC blockers because of video problems over Cat 5 with this unit. Sounds like it's only DC coupled, which is nice for specs, but makes the unit susceptible to DC offset leakage from the source. It also sounds like, from a call I got, that it's losing termination. Two very serious issues.

This is ironic because Xantech is sending people to us to buy these DC blockers (1182 and 1183), even though we make a 6x6 Cat-5 matrix that does a few things theirs doesn't. Ours also doesn't have the aforementioned problems. I guess that's the advantage of us having 25 years of video distribution experience...

I'll tell you when my replacement gets in. I had to return the Switcher and the CAT5 receivers. I think I'll will try the new switcher from Russound if this doesn't work.

According to Xantech, This problem stems from Scientific Atlanta equipment only....Go Figure!!....I would like to know more about this 6x6 Cat-5 matrix and the stability of it.

Your solution worked. Everything is working fine now.
