I am going to be doing a big theater install soon and I need something to controll it. I would like to do a Crestron but we are not dealers. Is there any way I can get an outside independent programer who can take care of this theater for me? I know that Crestron has Certified Independent Programers but do they just do the really insane programing requests for dealers who already have the product, or can they get product and fill a need for a shop. Any help would be appreciated.

There should be any number of independent programmers more tha happy to work with you. You need to choose your components carefully, from a control point of view. Crestron will not do its magic otherwise.

vts,

You can hire an independent programmer to program a crestron system, however, you may still have a problem getting the eqipment. The independents are certified to program not to sell. Do you have a crestron dealer in your market already? If so you may try to work out something with that dealer or see if crestron will sell you the product direct with the understanding that you are hiring an independent. If you have no dealers in your area, you may be able to work something out with one of us crestron guys that frequent these posts.

if you are planning on buying enough equipment there is a chance that you can become a dealer, from what i understand is that they have a set limit on how much you need to spend to become a dealer,,then you can find a independent programmer or just have crestron program it for you for an astronomical amount.

then you will be a dealer and bid on a lot of bigger jobs

good luck

I like the 'new kid on the block' for control systems. The control panels are far nicer than what either AMX or Crestron can do now. But, they are for smaller type systems etc.

Check out http://www.aviscel.com and look a the Cue system.

Depending upon your system and your client's wishes there are many Crestron programmers out there that can handle both the programming and the complete control system installation. The new Crestron Isys panels can display the most complicated graphics. From a display perspective the Aviscel has nothing on them.

I believe your wrong, I've never seen an Isys panel have interaction such as the Cue systems. Tab layouts, moving windows, popup windows...etc. Creston and AMX are like 'POW' here's my new window, the Cue system can have a new window 'flow' onto the screen.

Plus, all the 'work' is done in the panel, making your control programming much more simple. Soon it will be able to run a small system from the panel itself, without a 'brain'

Looks like a Pronto 6000 on steroids. And yes I download a few demos. Not impressed.

We tried to become dealers for Crestron but were turned down. What they (and alot of others) don't understand is that we are not in the City market that we live so close to. We do not do jobs in the city we do jobs far away from it that no other firms in the city will do. We have butted heads with a firm concerning controll systems ONCE. I don't know what else to tell the Crestron guy to convince him that we are not in the market that he says is too saturated already. But regardless I need to get something for this one client, and if we could do Crestron I'm sure we would sell more.

Sent you an e-mail, but in case you didn't get it I can do the whole system for you. Drop me a line at [email protected].
How hard can this be?

Dont forget about the Niles intellicontrol system. It has a remote that is less likely to scare your customer, and the control center is smart enough to know wheater your equipment is on or off which can be crucial when performing macro. Plus it is available through distribution, but I recommend you have someone who is experienced in programmnig the system do so, or get training from Niles. Good luck

I agree. For any kind of high end system a touchpanel blows Niles away.

I like the RTI T-2 with the RF and RS-232 interfaces.
I've installed a lot of them.
