Just a quick question for a little input.

We have occasional jobs that call for a VCR / DVD Combo unit to be spec'd in.

The brands we have been using all of a sudden dropped the TV tuner in the VCR section and sometimes that is needed.

Just needing input on a brand of combo that includes both a TV tuner AND discrete commands for power and VCR / DVD selection.... and isn't total junk.

Thanks for the help.

LG - there new ones have an ATSC tuner for HD as well. Not sure on the discrete but I think the 'play' command turns it on.

SLV- D271 Sony (most recent costco model) discrete power , discrete DVD, VCR input and control ability, tuner needs enter command after any direct numeric channel entry, even a three number command entry.

Be carefull with the LG RC 797T. I have written LG several times now and still am confused if it is capable of passing HD straight from the HD tuner to the Plasma.

It does have both an ATSC and a NTSC tuner in it.

The word on other forums is that it downconverts the HD signal than reupconverts it to output on the HDMI output of the LG.

The LG rep basically told me the Component out does not pass HD.

I am about ready to buy one of these units and see what it can do myself.
