Ok, here's the deal.

Grafik Eye remote controls the Grafik Eye no problem.
The Crestron will not control the Grafik Eye with either learned IR from the remote or with downloaded codes.
IR emitter/wiring verified good and even swapped with another one...

I wanted to check here before calling Crestron -- I figure they'll just tell me to buy the Lutron MUX interface they make (ST-LT).
I'm all for that, but from a sales perspective it's harder to sell a customer a Grafik Eye, Crestron control, and some additional expensive hardware just to integrate the two.

thanks,
Matt

Just grab the MOD from the CRESTRONS DATABASE - it works fine. I used it 100x.

You need to get sneaky thou with the IR BUG, run it through the screw hole, behind the cover (which ya notch) and over the EYE.

goto [Link: 66.159.163.6] and REG - there is a FORUM on CONTROL SYSTEMS - i will get into detail there if ya post.

Another alternative device that you may use is the Lutron GRX-RS232. I don't think that it is any cheaper than the ST-LT. Both of these pieces are not cost effective if you only wish to access the 4 or 8 scenes available from a Lutron remote and master ramp up and down features. What is beneficial is the ability to access all of the scenes in the control unit, control multiple Grafik units on a single bus, ability to ramp specific channels, etc...

The GrafikEye *can* be controlled via IR, with Crestron. It's been done numerous times, and would be your least-expensive solution. If it's not working, either the emitter's defective or in the wrong location, or there's a problem in the program.

However, as tsvisser mentioned, the ST-LT or GRX-232 would provide additional scenes and other functions.

I've controlled Grafik Eyes millions of times in the past with IR (AMX, etc) ... the install isn't a problem, must be the programming or the codes that I captured that are causing the problem (although I've gone through them thoroughly)

just wanted to know if there were any quirky problems with Crestron/Lutron IR control... apparantly not.
I guess the motto I lived by in my past as a repair tech is again proving itself:
The technician is his own worst enemy.

..must be overlooking something obvious.
thanks all.

Ya know problems like these somtimes are really stupid little over looked things. Like - make sure the S/G are right on the connector. Swap them around and see what happens.

oh ya, and goto [Link: 66.159.163.6] and post

FYI, there's also a Crestron Programmer's group at [Link: groups.yahoo.com]

In the group's Files section, there's a GrafikEye IR driver that can activate 16 scenes.

Well, downloaded that driver and updated programming..
and here I am still pulling my hair out.

At first, nothing.
Control processor not even recognizing RF.. first time this has happened.
Unplug processor, plug back in.
Nothing.
Reset ST-1550C, check for correct RF ID, try again... nothing.
Once again, reset the processor and suddenly it's working.

hmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Now, with the new Lutron Grafik Eye codes (the ones from the Crestron Yahoo Group) Scene 1 command does not work, All Off command does not work, Ramp Up does not work, Ramp down does not work... Scene 2 and 3 commands work fine.

Check all programming, check the IR file, recompile, upload, same results. Did this 2 or 3 times for good measure.

The fact that the processor was (apparantly) completely locked has me concerned... it wasn't recognizing RF, so it could have been the TP all the same..

..also I was just informed that this is an old Grafik Eye... '94 or '95, something in that age range. Have there been revisions since then?

Which Crestron controller and/or RF gateway are you using? If it's a CNMSX, the "no RF from gateway" problem is a known bug with certain firmware versions.

You might also try posting the question on the Crestron group...

Do you know how to use VIEWPORT and TEST MANAGER? Plug the remote into the gateway, and open viewport to confirm all three addresses.

For more info, Visit the below address, and post in the CRESTRON/CONTROL SYSTEMS forum.

Id be more than happy to take a look at your program for ya.

Make sure you are running the latest version of firmware and software. A new stand alone viewport is available.

I dont know if this could be the problem but I ran into a similar problem. I was talking to another programmer in our office and we came up with the idea of trying a STEPPER. The reason for this is that we figured out that when you hit a scene button on the remote, the software has to press main zone FIRST and then choose a scene! Try that, I dont know if thsi will work for you since our Lutron was RS-232 controlled. Please let us know what works.

That is when you are using the ST-LT with macro. Pick the GE (Panel ID) then scene.
