I went to an independent broker and got $2M, along with a $2M umbrella that covers my house if the business is sued above my coverage, or if I get in a car wreck and get sued for both my personal and business assets. CYA.

Don't step foot into a job without insurance. I'm paying about $500/yr for a $2M policy. I go thru Motorists Ins., but there are many companies with policys available.

State Farm gladly took my money but when I submitted my second claim in 9 yrs (the first one being the robbery of my tools from my van) they dropped me for frequent claims. The second claim was for one of my employees drilling through a pipe which I reported but paid myself.
On auto claims, they nickel and dimed me for the most trivial items that needed repair and I had to fight to get things done.
Granted they are inexpensive, but I learned that I got what I paid for. I'm now using The Hartford, which cost more but as I stipulated to my new agent, No hassles!!! He assured me of this and has been true to his word as the Blizzards have bent one of my vehicles. Got a check for the full amount for repair and got no hassles
