After many, many years installing a long forgotten number of Niles Intellipads and having almost no trouble with them, We have run into several the last few months with intermittent source buttons.

Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with them lately.

Thanks

Welcome to the world of Niles Intellipads.

Original Intellipads contained a Lithium Ion Battery to hold the Program stable. After 3-5 years, this batery runs out and you get problems.

I beleive they switched to Flash memory on the intellipad II's but I wouldnt go near the originals because of that.

Experiencing static electricity discharge to the intellipad partially damaging internal microprocessor, enough to cause an intermittent condition. Contact company for instructions how to avoid static electricity filtering the pad. Ground your body with a ground wrist strap when handling static electricity sensitive materials.

Thanks for your input guys. For clarity sake, I am refering to mechanical problems... as in press the offending button several times but much harder than normal and it will start working again.

May just be a fluke thing and was just wondering if any others had hit the problem lately.

We have Intellipads installed over 10 years ago that are still working fine, and have never had a lot of trouble with them over the years, so I was testing the waters to see if some bug had crept in like a bad batch of switches.

Have you tried pulling the buttons out and cleaning the contacts with alcohol? In particularlt humid environments an oxidation film can form on the contact points.
