re the Toshiba SD-5700 --

This unit and lots of current units do not have (to my knowledge) discrete power commands, but they have a simple work-around --

If you use PLAY to turn the unit on,
Then you use POWER only when you want to turn it off.

SYSTEM OFF macros have to have both PLAY and POWER, usually with a five second or so delay between them, to be sure that the player is on so that POWER will turn it off.

This works with all the DVD players I have seen in the last couple of years except for one, where only EJECT would turn it on...this makes the SYSTEM OFF macro looke real stupid, because the drawer opens and closes every time you turn the system off!

FYI --
Some VCRs also turn on when you hit PLAY. Some DVD changers that look like CD carousels only have a mechanical power switch, so there is no POWER command at all. Zenith LCD TVs turn on when you hit CH+ ! !

Good Luck!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I have a discrete ON for the Toshiba. The Denon I can't help you with I'm a Yamaha installer myself. If you're interested email me at [email protected] and I'll send you either the hex code or a ccf, whatever you'd like.

Go here for David Gray's file for the new Denon **03 model extended codes.

His file is for the 5803, but will work for all available commands for your 3803 as well. He's done a VERY nice job, complete with an attached spreadsheet.
