I was just thinking that WE do an awful lot of complaining around here and was hoping to lighten the mood again. (Like the Mouse Farts did a while back. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about do a search for it, and be prepared to laugh!)

A few weeks ago a lady walked into the shop, just thinking that she'd start looking into a new stereo for her house. She told me that on of the biggest pleasures in here life was to listen to music in her car "cause it sounds so good." I said that's great, and she said that she didn't "really expect it to be as good as that," but that she wanted somehting nice. I tried my best not to laugh at her, and kindly suggested that I wouldn't have much difficulty giving her a system for her house that put her car system to shame.

Well we talked for about 15-20 min. and listened to several pairs of speakers, with a few different tunes, and I was about to expect the usual "I'm gonna look around some more and I'll get back to you later" thing when she said, much to my suprise, "when can you put it all in."

Cool, I thought to myself, an easy $2000 sale.

A few days ago I got a call from her, (she was wondering when we were planing on bringing out the Mag-sheild versions of her front speakers) She enthusiaticly let me know that she was totaly blown away, completely pleased, and that she didn't drive aimlessly around the block as often as she used too.

I had a nice little smile for the rest of the day. (especially when I told the other guy's in the Car stereo department. He He He!!!)

That's awesome, see, this business isn't all stress and headaches! :)

I'm a remote programmer at the company I work for and I get the same way when a customer finally decides to go for a universal remote and I can sit with them and actually make it easier for them to use instead of me just adding another piece of electronics to their collection.

My favorite installer success story is about the lady who called a friend of mine after he had put in a hard day's work running wires and installing speakers to rail on him because "he had been here all day and she could not see that he had done a thing."

He listened to this for a half a minute, then started laughing while she was talking. When she paused, he broke in and said he wanted to thank her for the compliment. This completely confused her, and he said, "well, my job is to install equipment in such a way that it fits in without being obtrusive, and if you have not noticed anything that I did today, I must have done a particularly good job." He then went on to point out to her things she could look for showing he had actually been there, like speakers in the living room ceiling.... When the conversation ended, they were buddies and she could not wait for him to come out and do the rest of the installation.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
