I have an Sony VP--- projector that is about 6 years old and I calibrated it real well, but the red will some times fade in and out and will bleed over onto faces and other things, is the crt bad or is there something I did wrong.

Vinny, it's unlikely you set something to fade red in and out, so my conclusion would be that there is something wrong. Within the red CRT, or external driver circuitry, I would defer to a technician. Larry www.fineelectricco.com

Weak CRT's sometimes exhibit a symptom where it looks as if wind is blowing the red parts of the picture out past the edges of the images to the right side of them. This can verfied by adjusting brightness, contrast and color level to their maximum setings. This will make the problem worse. Lowering these settings can minimize or eliminate the symptom and then it becomes a question of how dark a picture you are willing to put up with. On a 6 year old unit replacing only 1 CRT is probably not the best idea, the chances are the other tubes are also weak.

Yep... not a calibration issue... sounds like a power supply problem! Time for surgery!

I can get 7 RG6 cables and 5 Cat 5e wires in a 1" hole and I saved a ton of $$$ by switching to GEICO www.geico.com |
