I have never put a PS2 into a system before. I looked on this site for all the codes and I found that none of the PS2 files have power codes. Does the PS2 remote have power comands on it? If anyone has these codes that would be great. If not I was wondering since the PS2 is also a DVD player if the "Play" comand will bring it out of standby like many DVD players.
-Thanks

You may already know this but you have to buy an add on for the PS2 before it will accept any IR control.
As for the other questions I'm afraid I don't know.

Unfortunately, I have never seen Power commands. I have also tried using the "PLAY" button to wake it up and it does not work. If anybody has any ideas, please reply. I also have the same problems with my XBOX, no way to use the remote to power it up or wake it up. Does anybody know of power codes for the XBOX?

Thanks,
Bill

The PS2 does not have a remote power on function (even on the original DVD remote -which you purchase seperately).

The PS2 does have a "stand-by" mode (red light), unfortunately even killing the power (say from the plug) and powering back up, still sends it into stand-by. You MUST press the reset button to get it going (green light)...

...no solution (that I'm aware of) has been figured out yet.

...just as a follow-up, I would bet that the PS2 is unable to even accept an IR signal BEFORE it is powered up. It wouldn't "know" how to have the controller port (the port where the IR receiver plugs into) open and active to receive a signal.

I think your best bet is a long stick!

here's something that might give you some hope.
I heard of a company called brodque ( not sure of the spelling) that has software that allows you too turn your ps2 into a "digital video recorder" when connected to a pc. On there site they have a picture of the sony remote which is able to turn the ps2 on and off, Sony is hopefully going to release there hard drive which will then give it the same abilities as the brodque set up, also if your using the ps2 network adaptor I'm not sure if you noticed that the reset button instead of resetting the sony shuts it right down with a tap. Put for codes right now I don't think anything is going to work were going to have too wait for a system add on.
