I have a Marantz 7200 and am using Xantch CFL Friendly Dinky Link, Connecting block and mouse emmitters. All of the components work perfectly with the repeaters except the Marantz 7200. I have tried 3 different style emmitters and the Control input on the back of the unit. Some of the functions work well but others do not. Specifically Volume up down and mute. I must have the remote pointed directly at the pickup and no more than 2 feet away. So I tried to us a pronto TSU2000 since they have really strong IR. this got me another foot or so. but source selection and other functions work fine...Any ideas??? I am begining to look bad here. I am thinking maybe out of the frequency range, but if so why don't I see more posts and why some buttons and not others Arrrggg...btw it works fine if I am pointing directly at the reciever...

Are you using a Plasma TV by chance? CFL Friendly IR receivers do not all work well with plasma TV's.

Dependig on the TV, I've even had the AudioPlex Plasma friendly IR receiver not work 100%.

I assume you have re-learned the Volume commands.

Sony Wega TV not plasma...tv on or off. Yes I relearned the Ir Codes and even used codes from the code library...I also tried a standard dinky link. Could it be the wire run its about 30 feet from the pickup to the connecting block.

like i said it is only some of the commands of the reciever that are having issues. Sony Sat reciever works perfectly...

We've run into this trouble. Occasionally the Xantech CFL friendly IR receivers will not work with various Marantz receivers. We use the Audioplex Stealthx4056. Actually, we've switched over for most installs.

Hmmm... I know marantz receivers are kinda picky. Instead of holding down the volume when learning, try giving it a lite 'tap'. I have the AV9000 and have had trouble learning, but these work.

Here's the RC5 codes for..

Vol +
5000 0073 0000 0001 0010 0010

Vol -
5000 0073 0000 0001 0010 0011

Mute (learned)
0000 0073 0018 0000 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0ca4 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020

I will try that but I get the same problem with the remote that came with the reciever...This isn't a IR code issue, it has something to do with the repeater system. I am going to get an adjustable settop IR pickup and try that. Keep hitting me with ideas if you gottem..

It can be difficult to use a CFL friendly unit w/ Marantz equipment. The carrier freq for most Marantz gear is 35 or 36kHz (helpful when setting up a CFL friendly receiver), for comparison Sony & Pioneer are 40kHz (typically) and RCA is 28kHz.
Second, using the rear panel input w/o a Xantech interface (794-50) and grounding G2 to the chassis leads to inconsistant results.

Yeah, a direct input into a marantz without the interface dosen't work real well...

Good to know...but the operational frequency of the CFL Friendly pickup is 30-60K. and the other pickups are 30-100K. Both should be able to function at 35K, 36K, and 40K...Correct? Or am I missing something? Anyway I am back over there this evening and will try some more stuff and let you all know...I will surely go pickup the 794-50. Thanks all more to follow...

The 30-60k is the range, on some models (291-80 and 780-80) there is an adjustment screw that helps you choose which section of that range you will include. The 480-80 doesn't seem to have this adjustment, leaves me at a loss.

Xantech 291-10 hidden link and IR emmitter on the front did the trick...Must have been the CFL frequency issue. I was not able to find a 794-50 locally but I ordered one so I can eliminate the IR Bud style emmitter. Thanks All for the help!!! good discussion and good exersise. Hopefully this will help others in the future...Jmitch you are the MAN! Also Thanks Matt for the IR codes...
