Hi All,

I would like to find a product to take advantage of my Pioneer DV-F07 DVD player's RS-232 port. If at all possible to both control and extract the current list of disks.

Thx.

You would need a system that allows two way communication, like a crestron or amx system.

...or a good neurosurgeon.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Three very good choices. Doctors are too expensive, spent all my money on toys, and I'll have to look into the controllers. But if anyone can suggest a program, that would be best as I have a few spare computers looking for solutions.

Has anyone done a brute force decoding or is the protocol available? Seems like a great project for linux, a web server and a tablet web browser!!!

Try looking at lantronix website and also Nearmedia...lantronix makes hardware devices and a software solution called Premise. Nearmedia makes a really cool GUI Skin that can run on webtablets, PC's PDA, Mac just about anything with a processor and an interface...

Check out www.escient.com. The Fireball product can do what you are asking and much more. It connects to the web and can catalog allof your discs as well as each track and provide cover are fro each album. It displays on your TV screen and you can create play lists and control the changer from it. It also can manage MP3 files from a networked computer. It is expensive but an amazing device. I do not own one yet but will in the next few months.

Good luck.
