I would also note however that taking the case apart is not an easy task, it's VERY easy to break, not to mention that I don't have any faith that reducing the antenna reception capability would have the desired effect.

I think you would be better served by trying a high output WAP such as the models available from. Pakedge

If it reaches to the other room(s) then the problem is solved.

Oh, and we're talking really, really big houses...

I'm now going to explore the option of just repeating in the first layer, i.e RF 2.4GHz repeaters or biamps (combined with high powered AP/router).
