Dear Sirs,

I am helping a handicap person to automate his apartment, he is severely disabled, and we are discussing about 9600 or 9400.

He asked me if it is possible to use the 9600 or 9400 with an IP camera or maybe wireless (wifi) camera, he would install the camera on his front door, so he could see who is at the door.

I know that to open the door, is pretty easy to do with RFX, but i am not sure about the IP cameras?

Can someone please help me so i can help him?

Possibly doable with the next firmware release but not before. If the camera can send a jpg file, preferably on request that would be a start

Barry,

I am not sure if the camera can send JPG, it is a wifi camera, works like a webcam, there are other options we are trying.

I am just having a hard time to automate his house and make things work for him, any help would be appreciated.

thank you very much.

Don't know if it's coincidence or maybe Barry already knew about it, but the new firmware released today, supports jpeg from IP cameras! Might be just what you need.

I see that a module for the Panasonic BB-HCM511 web cam is now available for download from http://www.prontoscript.com (level 1 certification may be needed0.
However, it's only for the TSU9600. In fact, all the modules for download are all for the TSU9600.

Why doesn't Pronto have modules for the TSU9400? Granted, its resolution is less, but similar functionality can still be provided.

most ip cameras work with the same protocol.

there are a couple of forums that discuss the capabilities and APIs of those cameras.

its pretty straight forward of you want to display a jpg. its getting more complicated for mpg or streaming a series of pictures to create a pseudo video feeling.

I am using this technology to preview the channels on the remote without having to switch on the projector etc....

One nice place to start is the "...9100 yahoo forum Dedicated to the reverse-engineering of AVIOSYS 9100A and 9100A Plus IP VIDEO server, and other similar devices based on W90N740, and ARM7TDMI chip by Winbond". This is a widelly used chipset for ipcameras and AV Servers.

try those links as a starting point

[Link: aviosys.com]

hope it helps. good luck

Dimitris
