Is there a way using ProntoScript to directly jump to a page? Let me elaborate. I could simply create a button with an action script, call that button as a widget and executeActions() on it. But what I want to do is switch to a page using a Global variable that stores the previous page name. I could create a button for every device page in my config, but if there is an easier way it would be cleaner.

The only way I know of in Pronto Script to jump to a page is the mechanism you describe. I generally have a page called jumps which is hidden and contains one widget for every page in the activity whose tag is "JMP_"+pagename and whose action list conains the necessary jump.

You cannot accomplish the Jump without having a button containing a Jump to the page. Would be a nice to have but currently it is not supported. I won't go into the nitty-gritty details as to why but it has to do with stability in the ECMA (javascript) engine and the scopes of Activity, Page, etc...
I had a long email discussion with Belgium about this and at the end, I fully understood why they did not make this available at this time.
