I'm sure there is an easy answer to this, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I am trying to resize several buttons from the gallery selections to use in my configuration. I save the pressed and released png and resize in irfanview. I save the files as png files.

When I insert them in my configuration they now have a black box surrounding them. Does this have something to do with transparancy images? Can anyone tell me how I can resize them correctly so they don't have this black box behind them?

I am not sure what you are doing but I always resize images in irfanview. Be careful where irfanview is saving them it may not be where you think they are going. Also make usre the size in the irfanview changes, if it doesn't the were not resized. I assume you are using resize/resample on the image menu. Are you doing them one at a time or use a batch process?

I am doing them one at a time. They end up the correct size, but they do have the black box around them. The buttons I am resizing are in the button gallery, buttons web 2 color. I am resizing the 40x50 buttons in blue, yellow, green and red. I am putting some small buttons to match the color buttons on the DirecTV remote. I resized them to 20x25. Definitely not a black box around the originals, but once they are saved, they have a black box surrounding.

I can email you the two png files to look at if you think that might help.

Barry,

I noticed something else. Every image, button, panel, etc., I save from ProntoEdit shows this black box around the image when I preview on Irfanview before opening. I tested this with several buttons, panels, and had the same result.

Maybe I'm not saving these correctly? I'm at a loss.

Before I started using "Paintshop Pro", I first tried using a different graphics editor called "Photo Impact". With "Photo Impact", I was getting the same results, where the background around the button would be black. I think this was due to the fact that "Photo Impact" cannot handle a "translucent" ".png" type graphic image. Either you need to find the right settings in your graphics editor for "png" files, or you need to use a newer type editor that can properly handle "png" files.

I get the black box also with irfanview. For the Mac fans, I just found out Mac with Leopard can resize in Preview with out any problem.

I believe the issue may well be what BigK200 is pointing out. LowPro will know and I am sure he will ring in. If the Pronto buttons you are saving have a border that is not totally transparent thereby giving the button a "Nice Size" for pressing but a smaller size when viewed, Irfanview will treat that border as opaque unless you set it as transparent. Irfanview does not know about degrees of opacaity. It knows transparent or solid.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one seeing this response. BigK200, any idea how much paintshop pro will run me? I would love to get photoshop at some point, but don't have the $600 to blow right now, especially after buying a new 9400 and a new 52 inch flat panel.
