Rather often my PEP display this message when starting:

The file seems corrupt or damaged and PEP cannot open it.

I hit OK and this message appears:

Failed to load system configuration. Please reinstall the application.

I tried to reinstall, but the problem appeared again. If I restart the computer, the program starts and I can work some more.

Anyone experienced the same problem and managed to solve it?

I suspect you have a very badly corrupted XCF file or does it happen with every xcf file you try? Are you saying you can not open PEP by itself with out referencing an XCF File?

You might be double clicking to open an XCF.

You should open an XCF using the Open command within PEP.
