how can I power sense my hd dvd player (unfortunately it is a toshiba; "unfortunately" because of Warner..) which has a toggle button for power on and off? I understand that I need the rfx extender for that. But the player does not have a power output jack. any idea how to solve this problem?

(the problem is, that when the player is already running for some reason and I run my action script to watch dvd, then it turns off the player since the IR signal tells it to press the power button ...which turns it off now!)

thanks

Maybe before you try an extender, see if the DVD will turn on using the play button. If it does, you can modify your action a bit to use this to your advantage.

Once you know the "state" of the DVD, you can turn it off and it will go off, using the power button.

So, a macro might look like this, in the other action macros for other devices.

send IR Play
Delay .10 sec (may need to vary this)
send IR Power.

Then in your Watch DVD macro, send the Play IR command instead of the power command, to turn it on.

Power sensing: I had used this recently with my RFX9600. There are few options depending on the model and which outputs you are using. Scart PIN 8 (to ground/shield) gives you the right voltage for power sensing. If in use then try a video sensor. It is easy to make and it works (tested on my Philips DVD) on booth Composite and Coaxial (digital audio) outputs.
