I have been modifying an existing configuration to work with my setup. With the help of the Ultimate Pronto Guide, I have made quick progress. In the NG file area I found lots of network logos to use for my favorite channels. When I insert the bitmap in the file, the button acts as more of a panel than a button. It doesn't have the effect of pushing a button when I use the simulator. I would have used the buttons already in the existing config. but of course my channel favorites are not the same as the creator's. I tried to superimpose the image over a button in the gallery, but none of the buttons offered are the right size.

Do I need to have photoshop to accomplish this? The bitmaps are the correct size and look great on the screen but I would like to have the button push effect.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, just trying to learn.

I don't know how it was with the NG,
but now you must have two bitmaps for the buttons.
One in unpressed state, and one for pressed state.
If you both have the same graphic, it won't change when you push one.

With a graphic editor (like photoshop), you can make it.
And for keeping it simple or just trying, making the button darker will just do it.

I hope this helps a bit

Thanks Tom. I guess I should have told you that I have the 9400. I am just using the a pcf from the NG since there were no complete xcf files on the site yet. I see what you're saying, and I appreciate your help.

There is a piece of freeware out there called Irfanview. It is a little graphics utility with tremendous batch processing power. When I build buttons I only make the normal state. I then give it (or a whole directory full of them) to Irfanview with direction to produce the Negative of the image (color pallette wise) and add the word inverted to its name and put it back in the same folder.

Irfanview will also do batch croppings, rotations, scalings, text insertion and a host of special effects. It does not replace Photoshop as nothing does, but it does not cost $699 either.

Thanks Barry. I see exactly what you are talking about.

I do have a follow-up question if you have a minute. How do I import the whole directory of images to irfanview to create negatives. I can do it one by one, but can't see where I could apply to an entire folder of images.

Thanks again for your help.

Use the batch process entry under the file menu (Batch Conversion/rename) it will do just about anything. Irfanview also runs from a command line so you can also set it up with a shortcut to run a specific batch process at any time. Check the help menu it is quite extensive.
