I just received my new TSU9400 and RFX9400 last week and have been playing around with them quite a bit. The main issue I am currently running into is that none of the three Windows Vista machines that I have tried will recognize the TSU9400 through the ProntoEdit Professional 9400 1.1 (1.2.6) software. The software itself seems to work just fine in the configuration/programming section, it is just when I try to download the configuration to the TSU9400 where I am running into a problem. It is also worth noting that everything works fine on the Windows XP based machines that I have, just not Vista. I would simply use one of the XP machines however the XP machines that I have are all legacy devices I have on my network for a specific reason and not my main (better spec’d) machines. Also the Vista based computers “DO” recognize the device and tells me it is ready for operation, it is just the ProntoEdit Professional software that seems to be giving me the problem. Anyway I was just curious if anyone else has seen this issue, and if there is a fix for it?

I have tried reinstalling the ProntoEdit Professional software per Philips Pronto website, but to no avail. Still the same issue. Here are all of my equipment/software details:

Windows Vista
Pronto TSU9400 (latest firmware - 3.0.15) and RFX9400
ProntoEdit Professional 1.1 (1.2.6.0) – Latest version from Philips website.

Anyway help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Jason

ProntoEdit Pro must be installed with Admin rights and in XP compatability mode.

If you are receiving an HID error and running a bluetooth mouse keyboard set up then switch to a usb set up and disable the relevant HID from the control pannel

Hope this helps

calston,

Thanks for the response. I did attempt to do the install as you described but that did not help.

Now on your "bluetooth" mouse and keyboard comment ... I am receiving a "HID error" but I am only using wired USB devices. A Logitech G9 mouse and a Logitech G15v2 keyboard. Is there any reason you can think of that those might cause a problem? Now with that being said I did have a Logtiech MX Revolution (RF based but not bluetooth) wireless mouse that I was using for while on that same machine, but have since then removed it. I believe the Logitech SetPoint software for the device is still installed. Do you think that may be causing the problem? Thanks again

Most people how have experienced the HID problem have been Bluetooth users. Having said this, my problem is due to a non Bluetooth wireless keyboard (HP)

If it is a HID error, my guess is that this is your problem.

Do you have a USB wired mouse you can try? Plug this in and then go through the HID list (control panel: system: Device manager) disabling each in turn, test the download to work out where the conflict is.

I have reported the error to Philips but no response!

Man thanks again. It certainly sounds like is going to be the issue. And just like you I do not have any bluetooth, RF, or IR wireless devices connected. Regardless while I am a big proponent of Logtiech devices (obviously) they do dig into the USB/HID device stack pretty deep because of all of their programmable features. So I will be certain to give it a shot when I get home this afternoon and update you/everyone just as soon as I know if your suggestion worked or not. And of course if it does work I will be sure to update this post with the device(s) that seemed to be culprit. Thanks again.

You do not need XP compatibility mode any more. Earlier versions of PEP did.

Disabling the very first "HID-compliant consumer control device" did the trick and it downloaded the XCF to my TSU9400 without a problem on my main Windows Vista machine. I have not had the chance to track down the Windows-DeviceManager "Hardware Id" to see exactly which device this is, but I will try to research that so I can tie it to a particular device. Although it does not sound like this issue device specific since it is happening with both wired and wireless HID devices. Regardless thank you very much for the help.

On a side note I submitted a case via the Pronto website only to receive a VERY disconcerting response of:
"We are very sorry to say that we have no support for this TSU9400 model.
Please contact your dealer for support and / or visit our website"

Not sure about all of you however this is not the kind of response I was hoping for from the Philips Pronto team. Thank goodness for the RemoteCentral forums. There certainly is a wealth of information out here.
