I have gotten the padone to work on my pc with wmp. However; the pronto has no control over volume or any hard buttons as the pages in prontoedit cannot be manipulated.

My Question is: now that the music streams nicely to the pronto, is there a way to make the player something besides wmp?...such as a D-link Media server? Kinda sucks to only have the music be playing on the computer in a different room...

UPNP would have worked much better.

Basically want to select my music from the pc on the pronto, and play on the stereo.

Slimserver by Slim Devices will do exactly that using their software player instead of WMP, or you can buy one of their $300 players connect it to the network (or run it WiFi) and connect it to your stereo just like you did with the audio out of the PC.

Did you really mean what you said .."Now that the music streams nicely to the Pronto.... " I don't think so.

Barry,

I have tried a version of slimserver with the software for pronto here. I couldn't get it to work on another player. Also as far as "fit and function", the padone is not bad at all. uses icons and text is much larger than that of the slimserver. I was under the impression that the slimserver won't work until their is a firmware update.

That is not the case. The slim server application is working for about 80 users that I know of. The firmware upgrade is required for the next version which is not yet released.

We specifically made the text small (but readable for most, I do need to put my glasses on the 68 year old eyes) to get the maximum amount of info on the screen. The text will be much larger (but less info) in the 9400 version. Almost every soft key has a hard key equivalent, but in some cases you do need either fingernails or the stylus.

I do not understand what you mean by "...Could not get it to work on another player". Could you explain that and perhaps I can assist you. The slimserver software on the PC is required for the slimserver Pronto client. The slimserver PC software works with a "Software player" called softsqueeze (think winamp or windows media player) which comes with the server application which is the media server. There are excellent physical players sold by Slim devices that mate to the software in a seamless manner. The software is all free. The physical players need to be purchased.

The end result is I would like to get my pc music; viewable on the pronto, and playable on my stereo which is connected to a D-Link Media Server.

I already have my music, pic, and video library useable through the D-Link, but want a solution where the TV does not need to be on, and the music can be seen on the pronto.
