Winnipeg3000, What are you doing wrong? Well, for starters, you did not provide anywhere near enough information to allow anyone to troubleshoot your network problem.

What type of wi-fi router/internet gateway do you have (Make and Model number please)?
Are you using a security encryption such as WEP?
Are you using DHCP on your router?

What are all the settings you've specified for the WiFi Settings on the System Page Properties dialog?

it's ok...got the wifi going with the correct ssid. Now that this is going...unlike my Nevo which was upnp compatable, Is the wifi good for anything other than using the extender to operate ir codes?

hoping to be able to select music from my pc via the pronto.

how is this possible if it is not upnp compatable?

Well, you need to search for posts by LowPro and/or Barry Gordon about SlingServer or the PadOne Software for Windows MCE.

Is the Pronto WiFi good for anything besides IR from an extender?

Yes. Now there is a terse answer in the style of a terse question.

The Pronto is actally a small computer with a robust development language built in and a user interface consisting of a small high resolution touch screen and some buttons that tend to tailor it as a remote control.

Ergo it can do anything that a small computer with.... can do

In another respect it is like a baby and has to be taught (programmed) to do anything really useful. It has limited I/O but universal communications using what is probably the most common computer to computer communications protocol. So can it do anything else besides IR well it depends on how talented the teacher is.
