Can anyone direct me to a set of discrete IR codes for this Sony carousel player?

Thanks.

Do you know if the Sony DVP-CX777ES is the same? If yes, I have the OBC code for each function and the corresponding MakeHex files. I also have it in my PEP3 database but I'm not sure how to export.

I have a number of Sony BDP-CX7000ES 400-disc Blu-ray Players in my setup. My PEP v1.1.20 configuration file (as seen here) includes a full set of IR and RS-232 codes. I have a number of Sony DVP-CX985V 400-disc DVD Players in my setup as well which use the same IR codes as the Sony DVP-CX777ES. The IR codes for Sony's 400-disc DVD Players aren't the same as what's used for Sony's 400-disc Blu-ray Players. See my reply to your other post here, Len. My reply in your other thread covers all the bases for you.

JohnL28,

I don't know how similar the Sony BDP-CX7000ES is to the Sony DVP-CX777ES. But I also don't know what an OBC code is. The Pronto Pro wants IR codes. If you have such a code for:

o Discrete Power ON
o Discrete Power OFF
o Disc Select
o Disc Enter

Then I would be thrilled to get those from you.

Lowpro,

I am still totally confused by what an RS-232 code is for the Pronto Pro and what an IP command is for the Pronto Pro. Your message here says your configuration file "... includes a full set of IR ... codes". Can you please direct me to those codes?

I apologize for my ignorance, but the truth is that anything other than IR codes is way over my head at this point.

The above is the full IR codeset. There is no IR code or sequence of IR codes you can execute to select and play a specific disc with Sony's 400-disc Blu-ray Players. Short of upgrading your remote and implementing RS-232 or IP control you'll just have scroll up and down from the Sony XMB (XrossMediaBar), the built-in graphic user interface. You could also just select what disc you want to play using the controls on the front panel of the changer itself. That's the fastest way truth be told. Well, if you're limited to IR control anyway.

Mine were slightly different from LowPro’s. I’m sure one of the two (or both) will work. Also not exactly sure which code is ‘Disc Select’ -- I added a list of all the codes I have below (I can pull any one you want out of my PEP3 database).

Lowpro and JohnL28,

Thank you both for going "the extra mile" to try to help me. I appreciate it very much.

I do have one last question for you:

What is the purpose of the numeric pad and the IR codes for the digits '1', '2', ... , '9', '0'?

When/how would anyone ever need to enter a digit?

Len

Numerical entry is only used for the "Title Search" option best I can tell.

I hadn't thought of that. Well, at least it has some purpose for being there.

Thanks.

I used to use the numerical entry for direct access to a specific disk. Say you want to play the CD/DVD in slot 132. You can hit 1-3-2 and then enter. The disk will play. This may be what Lowpro means by 'Title search' but not sure.

JohnL28,

I did try hitting '1', '2', '3', 'ENTER', but nothing happened.

Is there a something that must precede that?

The "Title Search" option is just that. It allows you to enter the "Title" you'd like to play. A given disc will consist of one or more "Titles". When watching a TV series on Blu-ray for instance, each episode is its own "Title" usually, each "Title" then being broken down into "Chapters". So yeah, it's pretty lame that numerical entry is only used for "Title" selection with Sony's 400-disc Blu-ray Players.

Back to direct disc selection. Just to clarify. Yes, Sony's 400-disc DVD Players provide for direct disc selection by entering the slot number from the user interface. That same option is not available with Sony's 400-disc Blu-ray Players though. Direct disc selection with Sony's 400-disc Blu-ray Players is only possible when using RS-232 or IP control.

Len -- I haven't had the unit in many years. But just looking at the manual for the CX777ES, I believe you can hit Top Menu/Edit or Menu/Sort, the number buttons, and then enter. It is on page 38 of the operating guide.

Len

Len, have a look at LowPro's profile as his signature states, there is a link to download stuff.

Len -- I haven't had the unit in many years. But just looking at the manual for the CX777ES, I believe you can hit Top Menu/Edit or Menu/Sort, the number buttons, and then enter. It is on page 38 of the operating guide.

Len doesn't have a Sony DVP-CX777ES 400-disc DVD Player. Both of Len's threads are asking for help with a Sony BDP-CX7000ES 400-disc Blu-ray Player. Look at the thread topics. Sony's 400-disc Blu-ray Players don't have the ability to select a disc from the user interface via numerical entry. The only way to select a disc from the user interface of the Sony BDP-CX7000ES is to scroll vertically though the list of discs. (You can sort by slot number first if you want.) The only thing numerical entry is used for is selecting a "Title" from a given disc. That's it. For direct disc selection you have to send the BDP-CX7000ES the appropriate RS-232/IP command.
