I have just purchased a near mint condition 9400 but I have noticed the scroll wheel is stiff to turn. What is recommended to free this up? It's possible it's never been used. I've turned it many times and it's smooth but it's very hard to rotate requiring two thumbs and pressure to rotate it.

What you describe means that something sticky (wine) was spilled into it. The only way to free it up is to open up the unit, take it apart and use alcohol to clean up the bearings.
