I just saw one of these ir extenders online and ordered it, it hasn't arrived yet. Is it compatible with the above controllers? How would I set it up to work?

The 9200 extender is not compatible with the tsu 9400,9600, 9800, or the tsx9500

Sorry you are having so much trouble. The TSU9200 was a bad attempt at a consumer entry-level remote that really did not fare well. IMO, it should have never had the TSU9X00 designation as it is not compatible with anything else in the TSU9X00 or the TSW9X00 line.

Is there an IR extender available that works with the 9400 and 9800?

Yes, the RFX9400 or RFX9600. I've seen many of the RFX9600's on ebay lately. The RFX9400 is more scarce these days. The manuals for both are on this site.

The RFX9400 is capable of doing 'Standalone' such that it creates an ad-hoc wi-fi network with the Pronto. The RFX9600 is not capable of 'Standalone' and requires that you connect everything through router.

All Pronto devices use Wireless B mode. Hence, a B/G access point will be required.

Note that WEP128 was most reliable although not very secure compared to WPA-PSK which takes longer time to connect.
