First, I am a long time Pronto user and member of Remote Central (2012 or 13). I have not had a single performance issue with the Pronto in all that time, and I still don’t. So why am I seeking help on this chat room? I will tell you. About 2 weeks ago, my PC died of old age and was replaced. Since then I have been reloading my programs. So far it has gone well, but now I’m trying to reinstall my Pronto app I use for programing the remote. I only have the original CD.
Of course, The new PC is Windows 10; I the old one was 8 when I installed the remote. It was a long time ago. The remote has TSU9600/37 on the back. That might indicate its age. It has never had a single issue other than a battery replacement two years ago and I really don’t want to consider another remote. I can reprogram my Pronto whenever I change something in the entertainment center and put its remote back in its box. One remote for everything and it’s a delight to use. It is the perfect remote control for me, and I just don’t want to replace it.
My attempt to reinstall was a disaster. After it installed, I launched the app; it flashed the logo on the screen and froze the PC. It did restart but crashed again when I attempted to uninstall it. I have ordered a serious 3rd party uninstall program I hope will do a better job.
Now my request for help: I have the original install disk, but it will not install in Windows 10. If I want to keep the Pronto, I have no choice but find a newer install program.
I see that there are several listed in the download section of our web site. It would raise my confidence level if anyone here has used one of them that; (1) installed on current Windows 10 and (2); can for sure program the older Pronto.
And last, I would appreciate any advice or information you think might help or information on any current remotes you are aware of that are even close to my Pronto. I haven’t looked very hard, but if bad comes to worse I will have to start. I will never go back to 4 or 5 remotes on the coffee table.

I'm in a similar boat, in that Win10 doesn't agree with it. Install didn't complete and neither would uninstall, but when I start the program it's there, and will connect to the Pronto and install a backed-up copy of its xcf file. But the gallery and my database sections are entirely absent. I had seen guidance here about setting up some files manually in the program files section, but my machine won't allow this.

Present plan is to use an older machine with win7, but that's hardly the perfect long term solution.

I haven't come across anything in the UK that does the same job as Pronto.

Thanks for the reply, misery does like company. The remote is working fine and I haven't changed anything since we replaced the TV 5 years ago. I will never understand why it's not the most popular programable remote. I bought mine in 2007 or 18. It was a challenge but well worth the effort.
I see you are in the UK. We have friends there and go there every chance we get. In fact, we will be there 3 nights this Dec 15, 16 & 17. We are returning from a Christmas riverboat tour in Germany.
Thanks again.

If you don't intend to change the layout, it would be worth seeing if post-uninstall the program is still there. If it is, you can always just build a database of items you subsequently acquire.

Lack of popularity can only have been price to my way of thinking, although my brother insisted on getting something new last year that would do Bluetooth rather than getting a 2nd hand Pronto. The irony being that he still uses individual IR remotes for many things. You'd never do that with the Philips...

If you just need to download and Win10 will connect to remote to do a firmware reload, email your config to someone who can edit and ask them to generate a Pack And Go EXE for you to try.

Thanks all for the help. My new PC is on line and I have about 80% recovered. I did lose my 8T backup drive where the newest backup images were located. New PC will not detect it. (My USB hard drive convertor will not connect it either) As soon as I was able to attach my NAS, I had access to last year's images to get this far. I'm felling a lot better now. On the bright side it's been a good excuse to buy some new stuff, too.
Now back to my Pronto issue. If I can locate an install program that load in Win10 it will give me a way keep my Pronto compatible with any future changes in my entertainment center. It's working now and exactly like I want.
There are several listed in the download room. My original installer will not install on Win10. Does any one know if any later installers will install and also program my first generation Pronto?
My current Pronto will be fine as is until I replace or add a video or audio source.

My recommendation is to install PEPv2 2.4.23.0. You can use PEPv3 if you like but this version of PEP2 was last GA release and is VERY stable. The PEPv3 release was in BETA stage before Pronto closed up shop and was never GA'ed. It's fairly stable and has some memory issues (crashes) that could cause you to lose data. Don't recommend you use it unless you absolutely have to have the 'Overlay' functionality.

I didn't find version 23 in the list but version 18 was. I downloaded it but haven't tried to install. I will wait till I hear back in case I didn't look in the correct place.

Thanks for all the help but no joy. I did find version 23 and tried to install it. The install process locked up about halfway. The program loaded and runs but some of the supporting files were not loaded. I get the first page of help but none of the highlighted shortcuts work. Clicking around on the app keys is the same, some work, some open empty windows and some do not respond. It's obvious the install was not complete.
I have lots of other programs to reinstall so I will set this aside for a while. Thanks for the help.

If you have a backup of the xcf, you should at least be able to use it/add new functions manually.
