Hi there.

Having just acquired one, I see that the remote doesn't have an eject button, but if there's no CD loaded the play button causes the tray to open and close.

Anyone know whose codes MF uses, so I could steal an eject code? I have asked them but no reply as yet, and I don't know whether they would have the raw code anyway.

Thanks in advance if you do!

If you perform a search in the "Files" section you'll get a number of hits. See here.

Thanks again, Lowpro.

I will still add that to the program, but MF confirm that when there is no disc loaded, play ejects and re-closes, and when a disc is loaded, pressing stop whilst the disc isn't playing will eject it.

Talk about ploughing your own furrow!

The programming function is decidedly oddball, too.

Turns out that the use of stop when a disc is in but not playing doesn't eject the disc, so I can eject without one in but not with one in. Odd. This is the response I got from MF- but that doesn't seem to direct me to a code that I can just C&P into my xcf file, and I am a bit baffled.

Can anyone help, and tell me what RC-5 code 45 is in Pronto-speak?

This is what they said:

Hi Simon,

I have just checked with the Musical Fidelity engineer and he advised that the eject function was not included on the remote in the end.
This was decided as you have to get up to change the disc anyway...

The code for eject is still programmable though.
It is code 45 (decimal) for open/shut tray.

Other codes are apparently standard and documented in table 14 of the following Wikipedia page:

So, here's how you use this.

In PEP2...

From MyDatabase, choose your component. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the 'Component Functions' and type RC5-Eject as the function name. Next, click the RC5/6 button. On the 'Define RC Code' dialog that pops up, make sure the RC5 option button is selected. Next, enter a System value of 20 (called out in the header of table 14) and a Command value of 45 (the function). Press OK.

You should then see the IR code generated like this.

5000 0000 0000 0001 0014 002D

Good Luck.

Interesting. That doesn't work, but the Play from the same table does - it's like the function to eject remotely has been removed from the device's electronics. Have asked their engineer again but may just have to accept this one!

It would appear that in the M6S, some of the codes have effectively been removed or disabled. No matter, and thanks again.

Using the RC5 tool, you can create all of the functions in the table in hopes that one of them is a 'hidden' code and serves as eject.

In the code below 002D is hexadecimal for 45. Knowing this, you can create codes by using the appropriate function.

5000 0000 0000 0001 0014 002D

5000 0000 0000 0001 0014 0000
5000 0000 0000 0001 0014 0001
5000 0000 0000 0001 0014 0002
.. (16)
5000 0000 0000 0001 0014 0010
.. (31)
5000 0000 0000 0001 0014 001F
..(57)
5000 0000 0000 0001 0014 0039
.. (63)
5000 0000 0000 0001 0014 003F
