I've got 4 9400's, and one of them has developed a really bad screen flicker. I can often make the flicker go away by physically flexing the device or gently pressing on the screen surrounds. Comes back of course later. I thought it was a faulty screen - but oddly, its not. I have a couple of 9400's on the shelf which I keep for repairs and swapped the screen over, and it's just the same, so it's something on the main board in some way. Anyone got any ideas? I can just swap it over for one of my spares, but I do still use prontosqueeze to control squeezebox players, and this is tied to the serial number of the device - so can't be used and the developer isn't around any more.

I think you may have done this already but I'd take it apart and reseat the connector from the screen to the main board.

Yes - I've tried swapping the actual screens over, so plugged and unplugged the connectors several times. Doesn't make any difference. The screen which flickers with this board doesn't flicker with another main board, and vica versa, so it's something weird with the board. I'm guessing some kind of power supply thing sadly. Like I said, I'd just retire this one if it wasn't for the prontosqueeze thing.

Search for user Tenchi (aka Nick Riley). His email on profile should still be good. Explain your situation and I bet he'd generate another config for you. Some people have been successful using heat guns to reheat solder joints on boards.

However, I don't have a clue as to where you should reheat. :-(

Thanks Lyndel. I tried contacting Nick a while ago, but without any luck, and his website is down now as well. Looks like he may have stepped out of this work, but I'll try him again, just in case.....
