I just got an LG C8 OLED TV yesterday. It has a Magic Remote, which has been around for a while.

Does anybody know where I can find the discrete codes for the Magic Remote or the recent LG OLED TVs?

You can find most Hex codes at [Link: irdb.tk]

Select LG from the dropdown, click Get IR Codes
Then scan down the list for "LG TVs:"

The entry "LG TVs: Protocol NEC1 device 4 subdevice -1" has the majority of the buttons from the magic remote.

(Select the "Pronto Hex" tab at the top of the page)

Which does have listings for buttons like 3D, however I dont know how to convert them to Pronto format.

I also have an LG C8. I used the irdb link and "LG TVs: Protocol NEC1 device 4 subdevice -1" to get the codes, but they don't work for me.

I'm using the following directions to program a spare button on a Motorola STB remote. I've done this successfully for discrete codes on other TVs:

1. Press the "Cable" button at the top of the remote to put it into Cable Box control mode.
2. Press and hold the "Setup" button until the "Cable" button blinks twice.
3. Type in the code 994. The "Cable" button will blink twice.
4. Press (do not hold) the "Setup" button.
5. Type in the code 00197. (for power off)
6. Press whatever button you want to map the code to. The "Cable" button will blink twice if successful.

What am I doing wrong?

Most UEI remotes, only brand to accept advanced codes, don't accept efc on power keys. Try another key?

It's a URC remote that I've previously used to program discrete codes for power on/off on Panasonic and Pioneer TVs. I'm picking the # key to program the code to, not the power key.

Both UEI & URC Inc use the prefix urc- in their model #'s. In the 80's all manufacturers of universal remote controls use that term, so it couldn't be copyrighted. As said ONLY UEI made remotes accept advanced codes (EFC), the 3 & 5 digit code for individual commands. Which might be discrete and might not, since some are toggles.

Again, I've used this remote to program discrete codes for several TVs in the past, so I know it works. That's not the problem.

The problem is that going to the irdb site, and selecting "LG TVs: Protocol NEC1 device 4 subdevice -1", (which is supposed to be the settings for the magic remote) doesn't work with the magic remote included with my LG C8 TV.

You know that "subdevice = -1" really means no subdevice, do you? (Which, in case of NEC1 actually means subdevice = 255 - device = 255 - 4 = 251.) Don't know if this helps you.
