"Alt + Shift" and "Drag & Drop" fail to produce button action links. Mouse operations in other applications work correctly.
Configuration:
Window 10 Home, 64 bit, Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHZ, 6GB Ram.

Removed all previous mouse drivers and I am using a generic 2 button mouse with scroll wheel. I tested the "alt" and "shift" keys with another application (Wordperfect) and the app responded correctly to both keys. ProntoEdit Pro is working correctly in all aspects, except for when I had finished my "layouts and code pages" and proceed to try to link the corresponding buttons, ProntoEdit Pro would only produce a "four way" arrow and no link or other action. Any and all help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Follow Up:
I installed PEP3, and it was to no avail, the same behaviour continued. No "Link" when "drag & drop" with "Shift+Alt". I also pull out my laptop and installed PEP2 and uploaded different project files and this was also to no avail the same dysfunctional behaviour continued to occur. I also made sure that I was not trying to create a "link" to a "hard key", to link buttons across configuration files nor that the buttons were in a multiple selection or that they formed part of grouped objects. Thus, this should not be happening, because as the PEP manual clearly states, "You can use drag-and-drop" to "link buttons within a page" and to "link buttons from one page to another within the configuration file", but I have tried in different manners with no success, someone please help. Thank you.

Ok, I just read that links are no longer supported in PEP2. So that explains everything. Thanks Anyway.

They are supported but only via Component Macros. You can drag a Component Macro from the tree on the left on top of a button and it will add the 'Link' to the actionlist of the button. So create yourself a macro category (be sure to assign a ProntoScript Name to both the category and your macro if you want to use them via prontoscript). The Macro Category is the equivalent of a GUI page in the old world. Likewise the Component Macro is the equivalent of a button on said page. In this new world, there is no UI view of these things.

If you start merging configuration files together, you will quickly see why they did away with 'Links' in earlier releases. If you merge a new file into your own config, you will see the extra Home Page created as well as the extra MacroCategory with the single component macro.

Without links, one is forced to keep IR codes in components (building blocks). Ironically enough, if you are familiar with Classic Prontos there were Devices and Macros. If you crack open the ConfigEdit.xml file inside your xcf, you will see that the 'Components' in Building Blocks are actually named 'Device' in the xml and the equivalent of a Classic Macro is the 'Activity'.

What was once old became new again.

Thank you Lyndel, I now see that there is an alternate process. What threw me off was that it had been a year or two since I had used PEP and when I download the published manual for the software, it clearly encourage to create code pages and stated and instructed on how to perform links from the code pages to the layout pages, but I now understand that it must have been applicable to PEP1 and from PEP2 on it was removed. I had decided to give up my efforts to link, when I read on a RC forum that the "links" function had been removed. I then proceeded to just copy what I had on my code pages to the buttons on my user layout pages. I just hope some other person does not fall into my same error of taking the downloaded PEP manual as the authoritative information source, when items like "links" are outdated and inoperable, put remain published in the manual. Thanks again.
