Hi everyone it seems that my 9400 is starting to have calibration issues but still usable if I calibrate it every few hours.

From what I can see it's time to get a new remote.

This site has been AMAZING for all the years I have owned a Pronto and appreciate all the help.

From what I can see all the posts on moving to something other than a Pronto are old and I am looking for some advice on what people have move to after their beloved Pronto has gone to Pronto heaven.

I am looking for something with hard buttons and I have components that are in cabinets.

I did try the Harmony when my last Pronto died and before moving to the 9400 but didn't like it then. How has this advanced from then to now would be interesting to know from this group.

Thanks once again for any help.

M.

Well, you can probably pick up some URC gear (remote & RF base / emitters) fairly cheap and go from there.

I second URC.

The only problem is acquiring the programming software which is given only to dealers.

True... In this case, it may be better to go on eBay and replace your 9400, then upload the same program to it. Simple, quick, easy, and no gear to change or re-program.

Thanks I will take a look at URC but I remember that software was almost impossible to get unless you were a dealer.

I am concerned that at this stage all the 9400's I find will have a lot off use out of them and might just be back in the same boat in a few years.

As always thanks for the advice.

Sometimes, a remote requires calibration because stuff gets caught between the plastic bezel and the glasstop screen.

With the 9400, there is no chance of stuff getting between plastic bezel and screen but might not hurt to reset the ribbon cable connectors. ;-)

It might be worth it to disassemble and remove/reconnect the glasstop from the circuit board as well as to clean out stuff that might have fallen into the unit around the hard buttons or scroll wheel.

Just be careful when disassembling as the page up/down buttons on the side have switches behind that are surface mount contacts and you risk damage of pushing them off the board if not 'handling with care'.

I had this calibration issue also. But with a new battery the problem is gone. :)
