Hi

My name is Alex and i live in germany..
igot a Marantz RC9500 RC (EU Version) for many years now.
because it slowly falls appart i bought a new used RC 9500 in the USA.
The RC works great but i got a problem with the RF Mode.
I uploaded my config from the old EU Marantz to the newer US Marantz changed language end a few settings... everything works great but my RF Voltage switches for light and cable plugs dont work...
I think ether the USA Version has a different RF standard or the RF function is damaged..... i think the first will be the problem....
My RF switching rx device is an Intertecno mains power plug switch witch works perfect on my old remote.... i also got an intertechno light dimmer that also works on the EU device.

Can someone help me please with this problem..

sorry for my bad english..... i do my best...

Ok.......

i did a little research and found this on remote central page:

"The only hardware change is with the RF transmitting frequency – 433MHz in Europe and 418MHz in North America. You will need to own a European model to use the European RF Extender, and vice versa for North American models."

i guess the marantz is similar to the prontos so i am screwed...
Didnt mind that when i ordered my new device..
but i can use my new one for many years again just without switching lights via rf.

have to live without it now....

thanks anyway .....

best regards Alexander

Edit:

to al the euro users.... does someone know an IR to RF extender that is available and works with the US marantz and the intertechno just as the marantz itself?

Hallo Alexander,

DO NOT use the US 418MHz RF sender in Germany!! That frequency is not allowed for such usage. It may cause disturbances -- somewhere -- and you might get some very angry men knocking on your door! (Disclaimer: I am not really an expert).

If you are handy with a soldering iron, possibly you can transfer the RF sender of the old one to the new one.

does someone know an IR to RF extender that is available and works with the US marantz and the intertechno just as the marantz itself?

Something like this?

There are also other similar alternatives.

You can swap the RF transmitters if you are indeed handy with a soldering iron. I think at one point, they might have just snapped on/off but there may have been a ground strap that needed soldering.

For sure this was the case on the RC9200 (equivalent of the TSU6000).

Hi guys!

Thank you for respond!

that sounds like hope! My soldering skills are good, i own a standard and an SMD soldering iron.... but i have no idea where the RF module is located in the remote...
if anyone has an link or instructions would be great!

Barf .... thanks for the warning! i wount try to use the rf function any longer on the us remote... i also own a few nice electronics! dont wanna toast ist anyway!
interesting info by the way! didnt mind that at all....

because there is no garantee on both of the devices anymore this wil be an option .... soldering the RF chip .... but i wil need more info before i can do that...

The reason why i bought the new marantz is because the old one is in bad shape on the old one the charging function is toast and i always had to charge the NIMH Battery on an external multi charger... the repair would have cost as much as a new remote....
I just didnt mind the different RF standard in the USA befor i bought it... :(

P.S. cant get any link working on RCcentral even if i am logged in.... might be a problem of my computer

You are posting in the Pro Forum. The real place you want to be is in the NG forum.

See this thread in the NG forum.

I realize the pics below are for a TSU7000 but you should be able to figure out what you need to do from these pics. The RC9500 case is much like the RC9200 if I recall correctly. That being the case, search the classic Pronto Forum for Replace 9200 Screen and you will also likely find pictures there that outline how to open up the RC9200/9500.

The piece you will be looking for is I think the shiny metal square on the board just under the antenna and will likely have 418MHz stamped on it.

Greg was nice enough to post pictures for 7000 screen replacement and these should help you along.

If your RU unit only has a dead screen, might consider just swapping the boards. ;-)

I said my soldering skills are god but when i saw the chip i am not so confedent
anymore .... not gona try it... i wil go for the solution with an external IR to RF Extender...

Sorry for posting in the wrong Forum...(and my horrible english)

Thanks again for your help and patience!

Try simply swapping the boards.
