I recently purchased the rfx 9600 and I am having difficulty connecting to my network.

The remote continues to read connecting in the upper left corner and does not connect.

The extender is connected to a Linksys N router which is set in mixed mode. I have it set on DHCP with WEP encryption. I have entered the information in the Extender tab and Wireless settings tab on the system properties screen. I have also updated the firmware for both the remote and the extender. I have also configured the extender for DHCP.

I am new to this and don't know if I would be better with a Static IP?

I would appreciate any help.

My understanding is the remote should connect wirelessly to the router which will then send the signal to the extender which then sends the signal to the equipment. Is this correct?
Does the extender even have to be connected for the remote to establish a connection to the network?

Thanks in advance
Brett

Brett,

The RFX9600 does not have WI-Fi capabilities and MUST be connected to the wired network. Some have used static IPs for extender and got this working. Quite honestly, I only use static IPs for extenders (configured in Extender Web interface). This ensures that my network topology remains consistent.

Being new to this forum, you will benefit by learning to search. A quick search for last 1 year in this forum only for +Extender +WEP yielded the following:

There are suggestions in several of the topics resulting from the above search.

thanks for the response.

I don't think I was clear in my question. I have the extender connected to the router by a wired connection. The remote control is not connecting to the network. It keeps reading Connecting... in the upper left corner of the screen.

Thanks,
brett

Hook your computer to the same network (a LAN port on the router would be good), set it to the same subnet as the extender and the remote, and ping both of them to see if their TCP/IP configuration is correct. that's the first thing to troubleshoot.

What is the IP address of your gateway and what is the subnet mask?

192.168.1.1 - Gateway?
255.255.255.0 - Subnet?

Did you change the RFX9600 to also use gateway 192.168.1.1 and same subnet? The reason I specifically ask about the RFX9600 is that its default IP address is 192.168.8.80 (I believe) which means it's in a different subnet (8 vs 1) than the normal wireless network config.

What about the TSU9600?

I appreciate everyone's help.
I have it working now. For some reason, It would not work with the encryption. I reset the modem's encryption keys and it is now working.

Thanks,
Brett
