Just chiming in to see if anyone is still interested in the general topic of using RFX's indirectly. My setup is similar to Barry Gordon's in that I use a PC to control everything and send commands to the PC from multiple TSU9600s and working on a windows 10 tablet remote. Since the commands sent to the PC are simple (like Barry) all of the heavy lifting is done by the PC. I started with Barry's ProntoPAL and ProntoNIC (plus whatever else I could find). My control PC is running a VB.NET program.
I had picked up a number of RFX9600s and RFX9400s prior to seeing Barry's work. Introduced to the TSU9600 by Dawn Luks (thanks). Wanting to use the RFX's that I had for IR control I have put together my PC program to use the EECF codes in the database to control most of the variety of equipment I have that I cannot control by direct IP communication.
I look up the ircode from the database in a setup routine that uses the manufacturer, device and function. Then when that command is needed I used the information gathered from multiple sources and then tweeked the UDP back and forth with the RFX's to send commands. It works.
For learned IRCodes, it does not work. For those I captured what the Pronto sent using a variant of ProntoNIC and saved that code in a file and load it into my control program.
I came across pgeraghty's post and from March and looked at his GitHub files. It worked for some devices but was not general enough. I was hoping to use his conversion from Pronto Hex codes to what the RFX needs to avoid my intermediate "capturing" of the translated IRCode from the Pronto to RFX.
But interested in if anyone has done anything further on the Pronto Hex codes to what the RFX needs for learned codes.
