Like the title says, I'm getting started with a Pronto TSU9400. My customer was throwing away the remote, charging cradle, and extender because she couldn't find a battery for the device. We had already installed and set up an T2i when she showed me the pronto, and asked if I wanted it.

I already replaced the battery and the remote appears to function fine. I have no experience with the ProntoEdit 2 or 3 software, but I did download and install it. During the install it became evident to me that the database files were taken offline when Philips pulled the plug on public access to the pep software.

I've googled, and searched until I found the O1R database. Unfortunately, selecting it as the database doesn't seem to do anything. Before I invest more time in searching for files, is this even a worthwhile project?

IIRC, You must "Open Other Database" for the O1R database and then add components to your own database (My Database) from the O1R Database.

The 9400 is a good remote. 240x320 portrait display and supports JavaScript 1.6. Let's just say that the Pronto can do many things.

Thanks for the tip on the database. That is actually how I was attempting to open the O1R file. however, after selecting the database file and clicking ok the component list still fails to populate. I guess I need to read a few more tutorials.

I'm really hoping to get this up and running in my home theater. Ive been offered up a few older rti remotes at work, but I actually like the look and feel of the pronto more. Not to mention it was free :)

Don't forget to check out the file area.

Also.

You can learn codes from your old remotes . It can take some time, but it works.
Project Boredom 2 is here. [Link: mediafire.com]

Check Version 1 & 2 out in the files section.

I had actually hit up the files section before I even posted this thread. Some pretty cool custom work in there.

I found this... [Link: onlyoneremote.com]

Downloaded the file and placed the file into the "Libraries\Documents" on a Windows 7 OS.

When I opened the "Open Other Database". It was there as "O1R_DATABASE_1AUG10".

Clicked it and then OPEN. It populated the screen as it should.

Was anything skipped that you can see?

Found out that my database issues were due to having windows 8 64 bit on my pc. I found my old xp laptop from college, and can now run PEP2 with no problems.

Ive actualy made quite a bit of progress on building my program, and have been testing it via direct fire ir.

The only major setback I have now is that I can not connect the 9400 to my rfx9400 extender. I selected "extender 0 rfx9400" in pep and then re-downloaded the program to the remote. The rfx is set to stand alone mode and id 0 , yet I still get the command failed error on the remote. Im sure Ive overlooked a step in setting up the remote for RF.

Are you under System Properties?
"Use Master Project Properties." box NOT-checked?
"Network" tab.
"Network Options" to "Wireless"
"Use Control Panel" "With Wireless Extender in stand alone mode."
"Pronto Channel:" to whatever channel it is set on the RFX-9400.

Then save and download to test.

Hi! What's wrong with running the database on windows 8 64 bit? Shouldn't is work all good? That's weird PEP2 is working on xp but not on windows 8.

IIRC, the database service is a 32 bit service but I know others have installed and have this running. Maybe you need to install PEP2/3 with Admin priviledges?
