I can't agree with you on that one Peter. My hands aren't monsterish in the slightest, and I have no issue with operating my 7000 with one hand. The only time I can think of any difficulty is when moving from the nav keypad to something high on the screen. Even then, that's only a quick adjustment....that doesn't need a second hand to accomplish.

I could see someone with smaller hands needing to audition the NG series to insure one hand operation, but as a general statement I wouldn't call it a two handed remote.

Agreed. I'm a "girl" and I have no problem with one-handed operation on the 7000/3000 series. I can often use the remote without even looking at the screen. And no I don't have fingers like Seinfeld's date on TV. :--)

My hands are average sized. When I pick up the 7000 with one hand, the screen is pointing upwards towards the palm of my hand. In that position, the only buttons I can easily push are the hard buttons. I need to flip it over before I can push soft buttons. If you are comfortable doing that, then the 9600 is just as easy to operate.

I'm sure you know what your doing Peter, however if the screen of the remote is facing the plam of your hand I'm impressed you can manage any button presses. Hard or soft.

I personally use nothing but my thumb for either soft or hard button presses. Palm of my hand faces the right side of the remote. Four fingers underneath, thumb on top... Maybe my hands are larger than I thought.

I never held a 9600, but from the pics I've seen on here I can't see any physical way to use it with one hand... Unless of course it's sitting on a table.

I've experimented a bit and find it very easy to operate with one hand.

Pick it up with thumb on the bottom and other fingers at top (except for index finger).

It is quite easy to push any button on the screen using the index finger.

Oh...

The 9600 must be shorter from top to bottom then... I can't even pick up my 7000 in that manner. Let alone make button presses.

The bottom is the long side - it is 'landscape' shaped rather than the 7000 which is 'portrait'.
