Can't get the 9600 to "learn code"?

I am not sure what I am doing wrong here but I cannot get the TSU9600 to learn the hex and/or super hex codes from my original remotes.

I have the TSU9600 connected to my PC (docked or undocked, tried both) via USB, in the database I "add a new device", type all the actions I need and do a "fast learn".

I point the original remote to the lower left of the TSU9600, hear a little bip and see a long list of codes being registered by the program but when I do an IR test it does not work (nor does it work in my remote).

I tried in front of my TV and receiver, I see that the TV is responding when I press a key, the PEP records the same signal but when I test... again it's not working.

Any suggestion as to what I might do differently to get my codes to work?

Allow me to answer my own question...

After many errors and trials I finally managed to get a few codes working: instead of holding the remote a few inches from the TSU9600 I just hold it less against it and it can takes 3 to 5 tries before I succeed to record the IR.

So basically it is working, just time consuming between learning, testing, re-learning, repeat a couple times and then succeed; and this for each command I want to learn.

I remote done, 9 to go :p

The more my TSU9600 works the better I like it and the more I realize I am going to spend days and nights trying to improve my design.

Could you post a couple of the working and not working codes?

When you learn the code what is the codes you usually see. Are they black or are they blue? Also do they start with 0000 or with FFFF. The most usual problem is that you might keep the button pressed very long. One guaranteed method is to place the cradle on a flat table with the remote sitting on the table pointing at the corner of the cradle (where the receiver is). When you press the learn it just takes a single press to send the IR signal. When you use the original remote on the TV do you keep for example channel 1 pressed to change? Just one simple press. Most probably at the end all your codes would be black letters starting with 0000. I am deeply puzzled though because so far I have not found any equipment with no compatible codes from the Database. The learn function is for extreme cases. Even though your equipment might not be included specifically with its model in the database, I am certain that you will be able to find a compatible codeset.

Most codes I learn start with FFFF - Codes I need might already be in the database but because I do not know which codeset to use for my equipment I decided to "learn" everything.

That means that you keep the button pressed to much. Try making just a light press so you see codes starting with 0000
