Hi guys,

My Pronto 9400 recently went blank! I mean the white screen and nothing will help to revive it. I was wondering if there is any way to use my iPhone instead of the Pronto.

Is there a software or an App you can install that will speak to the Pronto Extender unit?

thanks,
Dan.

Sorry, not an option. If you end up needing to get the remote serviced you would do so per the below if you live in the USA.

Service Wide Technologies.

amazing that in the area of technology where all seems to be possible this cannot be achieved. Unfortunately im in the UK and the 9400 was shipped to me from the US back in 2008... it seems still to be way over expensive and it bits me why.

Not sure where you would have it serviced in the UK. Perhaps others will chime in. That being said, you could take the remote apart and disconnect/reconnect the screen cable. Perhaps something worked loose. Replacing the screen yourself if that's the issue might be a possibility as well. I've completely disassembled my TSU9600 before and it would be simple to replace the screen if needed. Haven't taken a TSU9400 apart before, but there is a post here outlining how to do so.

obsi,

This thread has details.

Using an application such as TouchControl will allow you to effectively duplicate the Pronto interface, but the iPad does not have many hard buttons. TouchControl could talk to the RFX9600. You would probably want to use some JavaScript to improve your programming productivity. Unfortunately, there is no IR library.

I have no experience with Keene, I have been using Global Caché units. While it would be an interesting, not very difficult, intellectual challange to talk to the RFX9600, I'm very satisfied with the GC units and GC offers some small interface boxes that can be tucked away in corners. And, the GC units don't have the little timing glitchs that you'll bump into using the RFX9600.

Hi everyone,
it has been 2 years since i published my original post. I have since haven't been able to find a solution as to how i can control my Pronto Extender unit (which is synced to my lights, Merantz and CCTV multiplexer) via mobile application (iPhone App or similar). I used to have the the Pronto 9400 which went blank!

Its 2015 now, does anyone have any knowledge of an application which can be installed on an iPad or an iPhone and can speak to the extender to control my home automation?

Thanks,
Dan.

obsi,

I think that you should explore purchasing a used TSU9400. Otherwise, you'll be starting your program from scratch. There is no application that will simply run your current Pronto configuration on an iPad.

Yes, it is conceptually possible to use your RFX9600 with another controller, but this will require more programming skill than working with an application similar to ProntoEdit.

There is 1 hack i saw 5 years ago for iPad.

Get an old Pc run prontoedit and fire up the simulator (with the hack to get it all running) and set it to full screen.

Then use a remote desktop app from ipad to pc and whola! :)
