Im using firmware version 7.2.22 in my 9800. In the RFX 1.4.7 (latest version).
Everything is working fine.

When i install the latest firmware in my 9800 (7.3... dont know the right code) the remote doesnt receive RS232 answers (some random answers are recieved)/ Also IR has a lot of "command failed" errors.

Reverting back to 7.2.22 cures everything.

Has this to do with PEP3 (im using PEP2)?

if you're using 7.3 firmware, it doesn't have to do with PEP3, since it was made for PEP2.4, the PEP3 firmware is 7.4 (it's a beta fimware).

I use PEP 2.4.Im just curious why the RS232 module is behaving bad with the latest 9800 firmware. Probably the same for a 9600.

I use PEP 3 now, but I don't recall having any problems when I used 2.4. Are you using the latest PEP 2 version available?

there are several versions of PEP 2.4, the last one being 2.4.23. I don't know if it matters regarding your problem, but features are added/removed with different versions of PEP and the same for the panel firmwares. 2.4.23 came at the same time as 7.3.3 firmware.

The control panel and rfx firmware are almost always a matched set. if you are trying to do 2 way on rfx and are using both ports 3 and 4, that may be your issue. Ports 3 and 4 share a single UART. Only do 2 way on ports 1 and 2. if you MUST do 2-way on port 3 or 4, make sure you use only ONE of the ports. This means you have only 3 useable 2-way ports and that you should avoid connecting equipment to the last unused port.

A search for shared UART will likely provide more info.

PEP 2.4.23.0 is what i use. Its working fine with 7.2.22 firmware.....

Ive been reading about UART. Ive 4 pieces of equipment connected on the 4 rs232 ports. Does this affect port 1 and 2 also. Because they behave bad as well.

That's a different 9800 remote. See the forum section for that remote here.
