I have my new Pronto TSU9600 and the configuration file I wrote works well with it. I noticed one thing though. Right out of the box with the original DEMO config. file on the unit and with my config. file, I notice the remote does not run actions that are attached to Text Boxes. I have the latest firmware and the latest Pronto Edit Professional. In the simulater in the Pronto Edit Prof. software the actions in the textboxes (such as linking them to adjacent icons) works, but not on the remote. I tried putting in various actions and none work. Has anyone else had this problem and what is going on with it?

Thank you,
Blaez

I'm tryng to understand your questions. Prontos do not have text boxes are anything that look like text boxes. [A text box is a field where you can type in text.]

Actions are assigned to buttons, so I assume you mean buttons. When you link actions, you don't link them to icons but to other buttons.

I still don't understand the question. Can you be specific about which demo configuration you tried this on and exactly which button you pushed.

Thanks for the interest Peter.

The correct term is "Text Panels" and they are under the Image Tab in the Gallery of ProntoEdit Professional ver 1.1.20.0. They are used to type Text and have an Action tab associated with them. You can see them as Icon (button) labels in the default.xcf files on the home pages next to action icons (buttons) in these configuration files. I used them in a similar manner to label buttons associated with actions such as "Watch a DVD" and clicking the "Text Panel" with a link to the "Watch DVD" button would run the macro associated with that button. In the simulator the actions for these "Text Panels" work, but not on the remote itself. I have tried bringing these panels forward to the front with no results. I hope this clears up what I am referring to and any input or suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks again,
Blaez

Blaez,

This is working as designed although I disagree with Philips using fully-transparent images for buttons in their demo config.

The problem is that fully-transparent images on buttons will simply not work as buttons with fully-transparent images are not pressable (used to be you could use a stylus and press on the text and it would activate may still work but I don't think so.

To make it work, you must create some images.

You should create an image of the size you need with a single layer of an all white color and the set the opacity of the layer to 1%. White will not be visible to naked eye and full rectangular image will be pressable. You will require an image editor such as GIMP, Photoshop, PaintShop Pro, etc to do this.

The Images in the Gallery are indeed named "Text Panels" and this implies that they should ONLY be used on Panels and not buttons.

The wording used here is likely to confuse people. Text panels do not have action lists. What you are referring to here are buttons which are using graphics found under the "Text Panels" section of the gallery. As Lyndel points out, these graphics were not intended to be used on buttons as they don't contain the 1% opacity required to make said buttons clickable in the remote. That being said, the fact that said buttons are clickable in the Simulator, but not the remote is simply a bug with the Simulator which should have been documented in the release notes for the editor. See here for another recent post where I comment on this.

Thanks Lyndel and Lowpro for the explnations. Would either of you have or is there a place on the forum to download the White 1% transparent button you describe? That would sure be useful and appreciated!

Thanks again,
Blaez

Your question is like asking.... "Can you give me a fuel pump for a car?"

"What make/model/year of the car?" is my first question back to you.

In your original question, you did not even specify the size(s) of the image(s) you need so there is absolutely, positively no way we can tell you where to download a file.

Blaez, as a newbie, you will quickly learn to be more specific in your needs/questions.

In my original post, I specified you should just create your own as we cannot know what sizes you might want to use in your own config. You may be able to find config files with images the sizes you need. However, it is likely to be quicker and therefore best to create your own at the size you need. So, pick an image editor such as GIMP, PSP, or Photoshop and bone-up.

If you are uncomfortable doing this, please post the sizes you need and I'm sure someone here might fire up an image editor to help you.

:)

Ooops. Thanks Lyndel.

The size of the Text Panels I use for labeling are 180 x 60. I don't really work with graphics, but of course I could try sometime. So a button to work with a 180 x 60 Text Panel would suit a lot of labeling needs where actions can be assigned.

Also, while I am somewhat on the subject, can a Text Panel be created to fill the screen, not for an action, but to type out a Help File for my family or other useres? As I indicated, I can write a pretty good configuration file from available graphics, but unfortunately do no make my own graphics (guess it would be cool to do sometime though).

Thanks again for the time. I appreciate it and this forum.

You can have a panel to hide the entire screen and display help.

I realize you don't do graphics, but what better time to start rather than to have to search everyone's files for graphics you need?

I got the whit png file for my 180x60 Text Panel Buttons that you sent and yes indeed they now work as intended. Thank you very much. My daughter is actually going to show me how to do a full screen panel in Paint Shop Pro 8 that she has.

Thanks again Lyndel! This forum is awesome and the file and information are much appreciated!
