I've got a install with a large Netstreams system and two Pronto 9600's with two RFX9600's. I'm using a Linksys WRT350N router that I come off of into the Netstreams routers. The IP cameras, Escient Fireball, and Pronto Serial extenders are all plugged into these Netstreams routers. I've tried to seperate everything out....the Netstreams IP's, the Home Network, and the static IP's (Cameras, Escient, RFX9600's).

Netstreams: 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.99
Pronto RFX9600: 192.168.1.110 and 192.168.1.111
Home Network: 192.168.1.200-192.168.1.249

I believe I've got everything configured correctly but I can't get the 9600's to seemingly link up to the serial extenders....no busy LED blinking, no output on the IR ports, etc. I'm sure I'm missing something completely easy but never working with the 9600 and it's parts I'm lost.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Chris

What is the SSID you specified on the Pronto? Does this match the name of your network as specified on your Linksys router? Are you using security? What type and #bits encryption? There are many things that you did not specify. Is your extender DHCP? I don't think so but have to ask.

Next thing to check is as follows: On the 9600, I presume you've got the units set for Wireless and not Standalone mode as you are likely talking to fireball. If you are talking to fireball, then I suspect you are ok on the 9600. If not, you must ensure that the network settings specified for the config match those of the router (security, etc).

The SSID is the same on the Pronto and the Linksys....we're using security, WEP, 64-bit, the serial extenders are static IP's.

I haven't even tried interfacing with the fireball yet, I have the Netstreams interfacing with it...I'm just trying to get the 9600 to do basic theater control through the extenders with no luck.

Maybe stupid questions, but I have to ask.

Have you enabled the extenders on the Extenders tab of the System Properties in your config?
Have you enabled each device for the extender (not the GUI devices, but the ones containing your IR codes) and then set the IR port on the Device Properties page?

One more stupid question, are you using more than one router? You speced a Linksys N wireless router and two Netstream routers. Try using one router with one Cat-5 to a switch for all the Philips, Escient and camera components. Disable the Wep security until you can get a good link, you can enable it when you get communication. This takes one problem out of the equation. If you do not have a Wi-Fi indicator on the TSU 9600 then it is a wireless problem. If you get Command Failed then it is usually a RFX 9600 network problem. And of course always make sure you have the most up to date firmware. Good Luck. One last thing, If the existing wireless network is scetchy, install a wireless access point dedicated for the pronto network, encrypt it, and do not give the customer the network key. Buenos Noches.

I've tried to put it on the switch with the Cameras, Escient, etc. (which is one of the Netstreams switches) and also straight to the Linksys router with still no luck. I am getting a wireless strength icon on the Pronto but still no communication. I think it's the fact that this is so different from RF with 7500's and 3500's and I've had no training at all....shooting in the dark with my previous Pronto knowledge. If I can get it to link up we'll be awesome. Thanks for all the reply's, I appreciate any input at all.

Are you getting the 'command failed' message on the pronto? If so, what error code are you getting in diagnostics mode (Backlight + Menu + Firm Key 2)?

I would double check that your router is set for 'mixed' wireless mode. I believe the Pronto controller is only able to use wireless-G, and would therefore not be able to communicate with a router that is configured for wireless-N only.

What ip does the TSU9600 get? Do you have a pc with wireless to check if you can reach the wired part?

I am amazed because the first thing someone should mention to someone who admits that he never worked with the new Pronto is to explain the whole procedure.

First of all you need to configure your RFX9600 and make sure you enter a static Ip. There is a switch on the back of the RFX9600 that you can select between 1,2,3. To change its settings you will need to go to selection 3 - Router Configuration. From there, I find its much easier to access your router and check its DHCP clients lists. One of those IP should be the RFX9600. When you punch that IP on your web client you will see the RFX Web GUI settings page. From there put your RFX in Static IP and select for example 192.168.1.110. and subnet and gateway the same as the others in your network. Have in mind that you have to SAVE the settings first and the web browser will give you instructions to switch your RFX back to config switch 1.

Now you need to add the the extender in your ProntoEdit Professional software. Even though there is one already specified, it is not configured.
Go to:
System Properties
Extenders
and most probably you have extender 0 as RFX9600. Specify a Static IP on it the one that you put in its configuration page which should be in our example 192.168.1.110

Then choose wireless settings and enable wireless for Network mode and add a Static IP for your Remote which in this case should be 192.168.1.111

Now upload your settings on your remote and make sure that the RFX9600 physical address (a small rotating switch on the back which has numbers and leters on) is on the same settings as your extender number (which most probably should be 0)

Good Luck

Thank you guys for all the help.... I finally got it to work by taking it off of the static IP setting and doing DHCP. I'm sure this is not the best way but both of my control panels are working with both my serial extenders, the Escient, and the Chronos beautifully. This thing is pretty amazing once you get everything up and going. I'm having a little trouble with the Escient movie side but will search the forum before posting. Thanks again all!!
