There are two different galleries. One you display by clicking on Gallery in the Tools menu and the other you get by clicking on the Gallery button on the Appearance tab. The problem is that the button tab doesn't show up on the gallery you get from the Appearance tab!

The only way I've found to get a button from what I call the Main Gallery is by using drag-and-drop. One advantage that there is with this is that both the raised and pressed states of the button are copied in one move.

Another thing that is missing is the ability to select multiple items in the Gallery. When you try to move things to your custom folders in the Gallery, you have to move every item one by one. Besides being very inefficient it is, to say the least, very time consuming.

I hope I don't start a firestorm here, but I really think that the designers and coders of these programs would benefit by buying a Mac and looking at how some of the programs on it work, look, & feel. Delicious Library would be a good one to start with. I wish I was a better low level code type of a programmer so I could offer my assistance. :-\

Anyway, if anyone knows work arounds for the above things (especially not being able to get the Gallery with a button tab from the Appearance tab) I'd sure be interested.

A little nuts, but I'm single so I can usually get away with it.

You can't select multiple items in the Gallery or any other place in the software to apply a common action (other than Group). When you click 'Gallery...' on the Appearance Tab, it pulls up (I believe) the Images tab instead of the Buttons tag as you are asking to add an image to a button. I believe we reported this as a bug/less than useful feature during the Beta Cycle.

The easiest way is to use the drag and drop to pull buttons from the gallery and modify them as needed.

Thanks Lyndel.

I'm glad it has been reported. It has certainly been inconvenient. And I like the term you used "... a bug/less than useful feature ..." that describes the situation very well!

Its not just me having problems with the Gallery...

Biggest problem i've found is that you can add a button - or want to modify an existing image on a template - but cannot get to the button gallery from the appearance tab without going all round the houses to get to the gallery directory and then you cant see all the images easily !!

This really means that if you create a button and then dont like the image its a real pain to change

Definately needs fixing.

Unless of course i'm missing something really obvious.... :)

Something else I've found is that ALL of the backgrounds I've looked at so far, that come with ProntoEdit Professional, are the wrong size!

The only place you can use the ones in the gallery are on the System Page. If you use them on any other page they cover up the hard button's labels, the top bar, or both. :-( I'm still trying to find an easy way to get the graphics in and out of the program without having to everything as a separate step so that I can edit them. I guess I'll just have to pick the specific ones I want and edit them.

Hey Lyndel, I think this is another one of those "... a bug/less than useful feature ..." sort of things! :-{

Oh, and the default button that comes up when you first open up ProntoEdit Professional is a bad choice as the graphic is offset to the left - so you have to add padding spaces on the end of the label to get it to center.

This is, unfortunately, basically a parallel thread to the PEP ? thread. I'll stop posting here. :-}
