Hi,
I am looking at having a Pronto TSU9600 , with a RFX9600 connected to a Yamaha RX-V2700 via RS-232, so i can take advantage of 2 way communication, as I will have zone 2 of the RX-V2700 on the patio outside, and zone 3 in the main living area.
In my house Im going to put in some homebrew lighting control. Based around an Industrial PLC. (Im a Electrician in a shipyard, so things like that are rather cheap and easy to come by) Im planning on having the RFX9600 connected to the PLC via RS232 as well, to control lighting, motorised curtains, the kettle etc.
What im trying to work out is how I would going about sending commands from the PLC to the RX-V2700. Im thinking I would only need to be able to turn it on and off, turn on and off zone's 2 and 3, and maybe volume control. (for example turning off zone 2 when the patio light switch is turned off).
Is it possible to use a RS-232 combiner? Is it possible to have the Pronto recieve commands from the PLC and then send them to the 2700 (Im thinking this would not work if the pronto is turned off) Or is a RS-232 to IR converter and transmitter the way to go?
Thanks for your time!!! Scotty

Think I have found the solution to my problem, just means using a contact output from the PLC [Link: inlineinc.com]
