The frustration with learning a new Pronto language...

I have a TSU 3000 that I programmed a few years ago. Had a bit of a learning curve to get the programming down. But really loved the final product.

I just got the 9600 and am learning the new software.

My first question is how to get the code icon/page or whatever it is called under the proper top level icon.

I am starting with the default and am adding to it. I did the reassign under the properties menu to change from the default Sony to the Denon. How do I change the red codes page? Or does the reasiign automatically change the code page and I just rename it? This seems different thatn the old way.

If I understand your question, the red code/icon page is hidden. Right click and choose to unhide the page, and vice versa. Hope I understood your question correctly

Thanks Gary.

I will try to state it better.

Each device contains a layout page and a code page beneath it in the default configuration. Since my projector, a NEC XG 135, is not in the Pronto database, I retrieved it from my existing NG file for a TSU 3000.

There is not a code page when I drag and drop it into the PEP file.

How do I get the code page to show up under the device? The one with the red icon.

Not sure I completely follow what you are trying to do here. A picture would be worth 1000 words. However, might I suggest that you do away with the "red icon" stuff? The more common term here is "hidden". I suspect that you have "hidden" device(s) and hidden Page(s).

I'm not trying to beat you up, but if you use the more commonly used terms, you might trigger someone's memory.

Sorry I could not be of more assistance at this time but just trying to move this along.

Another tip, If you have codes in a page you've imported from a PCF, you should be able to right-click on the hidden page or device containing this page and say "Add to My Database". When you do this, you should be able to "reassign" provided that the buttons on the XCF's hidden page are named the same as the functions in the type of equipment you are wanting to reassign.

Lyndel, I don't mind getting beat up. I realize mine are the most basic and unrefined questions.

The link is a copy of the baseline configuration.

Under "Receiver" there are icons. There hare hidden icons for Modes, Zone 1, Zone 2 and Tuner. What I am trying to figure out is how you get these codes pages to show up. When I add a component, I do not get these code pages.

Jacket,

From what I see the code pages are hidden, as they are in the orange color. In this config, code pages are hidden, so they do not show up, when the user might go into the receiver "display" pages. If you need access to the code pages temporarily, to do some testing, simply right-click on each "orange" code page and pull down to the Unhide and then the code pages should show up. You can complete your testing and eventually do the same thing again and choose "Hide", to re-hide these pages from the user.

Is this helpful?

I understand exactly what the problem, because I am having the same problem... The question is, how do you create these hidden code pages? I can add the device to my database and in the database can see all the functions of the remote, but how do I get a code page created for it in the tree? Ican create a blank page in the tree and hide/unhide it, but I cannot figure out how to transfer the information contained in my database to a new page.

The easiest way to get codes out of the database onto a page for your new device is to copy one of the sample hidden device pages then replace the button actions with the desired ones from the database.

If the device that you copy has button names that coincide with the function names for the device in the database you can just go to the settings tab for your device, enter the brand, device and model then click the re-assign button. This will copy any like-named functions from the database to the page equivalent page buttons.

Alternatively you could just set up a page manually and assign the functions from the database by dragging the functions onto the buttons using the My Database Quick Access tool. Select Tools - My Database Quick Access, enter the enter the brand, device and model then drag the functions one by one onto your buttons.

I was afraid of that. I was hoping for an automated process...

The hidden device isn't mandatory - it is just used to add flexibility to the setup.

You could just drag the functions straight out of the My Database Quick Access tool to your ui device page.

hblake,

Thanks, that explains a great deal.

I have been reading the PEP software guide and it is not real clear to me about code pages. It is different than the the way I programmed the other Pronto.
