I have read somewhere that one cannot load a config from the 9600 to the computer. In many cases, that would not be a problem.

However, if for some reason, you had to have the 9600 learn some codes, how do you integrate those codes back into an .XCF file on the computer? Even worse, if the learnt codes are not in the .XCF file, will they be lost when downloading a new (or modified) config from the computer to the 9600?

That can't be, right?

Uploading your configuration file from the remote to your computer is not possible. As for learning codes, codes can only be learned via the editor while the remote is docked. Code learning via the remote only is not possible. In fact, programming of any kind via the remote only is not possible. The editor must be used.

This is clearly stated in the documentation that the ability to upload files is no longer supported. This design choice was intended to help preserve copyrighted work.

Lyndel / Lowpro, thanks for the answers. I guess I had heard (read) correctly but if the learned codes go directly to the computer/config, then it's not an issue. Sorry about the silly question; I don't yet have my 9600 but am trying to learn as much as possible ahead of time.

I have installed and run ProntoEdit Professional (as Lyndel may have advised in a different thread actually) and noticed that the Philips database, while extensive, is not necessarily comprehensive. I think it is missing some of the gear I have; some older, some not so old and I will have to do some learning.

BTW, I have found ProntoEdit Professional to be very similar to my Marantz Touch Screen Setup software...

Sylvain,

It's closer to PPENG or PENG than to TSS but yes, there are some similarities between TSS and the new editor.
