Hi,
I am returning to the forum after a long time as till now all was working fine, but now i have a really weird problem and have tried many solutions but nothing seems to work, so woudl be great oif you wiz kids can help me.

CONFIG
I have 3 x TSU 9600 with 2xRFX 9400 and 1x RFX 9600.
I am running on RFX units the latest firmware 1.4.7.
On TSU i am running v2.3, application 7.3.3, IT firmwrae 4.0.20, bootloader 1.2.8.
With linkysys wirless router running WRT 610 N, with no secuity only MAC id access control, all extenders are hard wired to linkyss router thru switch.
All are on fixed IP.

SETUP
I have 2xTVX (MEDIA player) and is connecetd
1st TVX player to RFX 9400 IR PORT 1
2nd TVX player to RFX 9600 IR PORT 1

BACKGROUND
I am controling 12 devices thru pronto thru 3x Extenders and as well using RS 232, for most of the devices i have learnt the IRS codes, the problem i am facing is with 2nd device (TVX media player) connected to RFX 9600 ir port 1.
Since past 2 years i have been controling my first 2nd device (TVX media player) thru RFX 9400 IR output 1 and it worked fine, the problem started when recently i decided to replace my apple TV with 2nd TVX player so I conected 2nd TVX player (where orignally apple tv was conneetd) to RFX 9600 Ir output port 1 and copy all IR remote codes in the PEP accordingly.

PROBLEM
Both devices (TVXplayer) start up fine and i can control both with TSU 9600, but the 2nd device (TVX player) connecetd to RFX 9600 9600 IR output 1, stops responding to signal from TSU 9600 after some time.

TRIED TO TROUBLE SHOOT
1. I thought this could be issue with the placment of IR on 2nd device (TVX media player) but that was not the case as the units responds at first.
2. May be 2nd device (TVX media player) is hanging due to over heat etc but thats not the case as the 2nd device (TVX media player) responds when i point TSU 9600 direct and shoot IR,
3. Also i interchanged the 1st & 2nd device (as both are TVX media player) but same problem perssisted on 2nd device TVX player connecetd to RFX 9600 IR potrt 1 that after some use stops to respond
4. Could be IR cable so i interchanged IR cabel of device 1 with device 2 and same problem perssisted on device 2
5. thought could be the ir codes, so i rechecked all IR codes for device 2 that they are same as device 1 and they were same as TVX 1 an TVX 1 works fine IR codes are okay.

This only happens on device connceted to RFXX 9600 ir port 1, another device which is connecetd thru RFX 9400 work find, and this happens only when some button is pressed rapidly on TSU 9600 to control the device the device stops to respond, but device itself does not hang as i have used the TSU 9600 to send direct ir with same codes to device 2 and it works, only thru RFX 9600 it does not work.

RFX 9600 receives the command from TSU 9600 and tranmits is as busy light comes on and off on RFX 9600 as soon as i press a command on TSU 9600, it even sends the ir onwards, as on RFX 9600 the ir output 1 light comes on and off when i press command on TSU 9600, but device does not respond, i even tried switching device or rebooting device and it still does not respond.

If i switch off RFX 9600 and restart the problem gets solved till after some use it returns when agaon some commands are sent rapidly to devoce thru RFX 9600.

I even tested the device operating independently (without RFX 9600) direct from TSU 9600 sendieng IR codes and sendiong rapidly commands and it works fine, no problem so no problme with IR CODES.

There is no problem in my wirless network as the TSU 9600 when sending command does not show nay error such as command failed.
Also when device 2 is not respoding all other devices work fine.

I know it is a Weird problem but any help or suggetsionw oudl be great....thanks guys....

Vishal,

I had a very weird situation where a TSU3500 user reported trouble sometimes, but not other times. There was an IR extender in use and I suspected that this was related to the problem. Naturally, when I arrived on site, the problem was not present and it was very annoying. Since I had other work to do, I would periodically check the TSU3500. Eventually, I noticed that there was some noise on the IR extender's output and the noise seemed to follow the position of the sun. This was shocking, since this was a shaded, north room and the sun could not shine directly on the IR sensor.

After a while I noticed that standing in a certain position always resulted in successful operation. Evidently, the specialty wall paper that they used was emitting some IR in response to sunlight -- even though the sunlight was not directly hitting this patch of wallpaper. I installed a sun screen on the IR extender and there have not been any issues since.

I mention this little experience only to demonstrate how strange these situations can be.

In your case the IR signal strength from the RFX9600 emitter could be on the edge (too strong or too weak) as far as your TVX is concerned. If this is true, normally insignificant background ambient light could become an issue.

One method that I use to explore the ambient light issue is blocking ambient light with aluminum foil. The foil will block visible and IR light. Black tape does not always block the IR.

Sometimes moving the LED to a better or worse location will help.

Finally, if the IR code timing is on the edge, there could be a difference between codes emitted from the remote directly and the RFX. Tinkering with the code duration in myDatabase can be helpful. You can experiment with this possibility by creating a copy of the TVX in myDatabase, change your program to use the copy and tinker with the copy's code duration.

What does your diagnostics.log (backlight+menu+firm2) say on the matter?

i cleared the diagnostics log for old errors and rsetrated all systems and then waited for the problem to re occur then checked the diagnostics log and it is empty showing no error, so seems at pronto TSU 9600 side no error.

This may be a little simplistic as a solution: It sounds like you've changed out a piece of equipment and obviously had to 'stick' the IR receiver onto the replacement equipment. Have you tried re-positioning the IR receiver to the left o right of the offending piece of equipments IR transmitter? I have an old Sony DVPS 9000ES and it really doesn't like being face to face with the IR receiver.... After moving it a little bit to the left, voila!
You can hide almost anything until you have to put the drywall up!
