Interesting.
I could get into the Pronto site this morning but not now. I should have downloaded everything when I could.
I bought my TSU9600 second hand three years ago so it would appear that I'm stuffed despite passing the level 2 exam. So much for the assertion that Philips would not abandon the hobbyists.
Perhaps it's time to start a new thread on what to buy to replace a Pronto Pro.

I'm in the same situation. Located in France, there is no pronto dealers !! I don't understand this situation and I find it unacceptable.

Damn I bought my remote and extenders from B&H in the states and I live in Australia. Over here they wont give you a registration code unless you buy in Australia.

Thanks

gdnsa You know what this means, right? Buisness opportunity! Or, that you really need to look harder: Pilotefilms 33 rue Godefroy 92800, Puteaux Phone: +33 (0)1 49001350 Fax: +33 (0)1 477477 27 Email: [email protected]You need a distributor, not dealer. Dealers are those whoa have a certification of lv3. Distributors are those who sell. The listed "dealers" are actually integrators.

I'm also only, or was levele 1 certified and now I can't access the site were I'm supose to download my softwares from. I paid €1100 for my TSU9600 model, and now I can't use the latest software without giving the remote to a local dealer. I want to do things for myself. And the closest delaer is located 200km from me. Should i drive there, get it program, go home test and if it's working, than go back to reprogram? What a shame Philips. Sorry I was about to buy at least one more remote for the home theater room and maybe the the new wall mount for my outdoor installation.

I've been caught out by this too - have emailed my (UK) distributor but I doubt they'll send me a code based on what others are saying here, I'm only a level 1 (and I was just about to "sit" my level 2!).
Frustrating as I'm back into Pronto dev after a bit of a layoff due to other commitments.
Hopefully, Philips will continue to welcome us "independents" into the Pronto fold - I love using and developing on the kit and it would be a shame to have to abandon it. I have long wished to extend my Pronto "hobby" into something more work-like but in these financial times, I can't afford to give up my "day job" to dedicate to what is still a fairly niche market, at least in the UK.
We'll see how things pan out, I'd really like to use PEP3.

It's a legal issue, as Philips is not resetting the accounts, they are simply canceling them. There is a moral contract with the users wherever they bought their equipment that they are breaking with disdain gdnsa

I've been caught out by this too - have emailed my (UK) distributor..... I'm an enthusiast. I'm using the pronto for my own set of av components at home. It's not a huge home automation setup or anything, but it is quite sad. If there was another programmable touch screen remote with good number of hard buttons I'd have jumped before. I read somewhere people like us are a specialised form of geek, hence smaller in number. We're not going to be bugging Philips on problems. Any problems I have, I'll try to solve myself and past that post on here and look for a solution. Philips must have got some use out of the free development and testing provided by people on this forum. This is not a good time to push allies away. The ipad and iphone will be pushing people away even further. As I mentioned in another post. Even if you are an installer, you may have a lovely interface designed on Pronto etc, but design it on an ipod touch/ipad and you automatically have a chance of customer being drawn to it. This means, pronto, amx etc will get pushed out. I think AMX are at least doing software and attachments. Philips could go the software route and license that I suppose, though that would mean more support issues as they wouldn't have control of the hardware platform (and that is a big advantage e.g. apple, consoles etc vs PCs and multiple configs). I'm looking back at things like globalcache now. All I need is the touch remote with IR and hard buttons.

Looks like I may be out of luck too. I purchased my 9400 from Amazon and they no longer sell it. Anyone have any ideas?

Shades of the Universal Remote Control situation from a couple of years ago, but I hope Philips will manage it better than that fiasco.

I too have received the 'get stuffed' message from Phillips. I'm level 2 certified and a hobbyist who bought his equipment from on-line retailers (TSU9400 & RFX9600). I don't need support from Phillips (I am a programmer!!), but I do need access to the software and updated documentation (PEP3! Soon...) in order to continue enjoying my expensive kit!
My suggestion to all Phillips Pro hobbyists is to lodge a complaint with the Pronto Team. Considering I have no relationship and don't need one with the local distributor, I'm not going to get a registration code either.
This sounds like a 'shoot, ready, aim' procedure on the part of the Phillips Pronto team... If we've proven that we know what we are doing by nature of certification; what's with the distributor registration code requirement!?!

Same situation here. Purchased two TSU9600 from two different retail outlets. I'm a level 2 certified hobbyist also and long time Pronto remote customer.
This is ridiculous to cut us off. How am I expected to get a retail electronics store to get me some code for a purchase I made two years ago?

I do own a tsu9600 and rfx9600 a couple of years now, and enjoyed the hobby. I also ordered a global cache gc-12 two weeks ago to integrate into my home theater/domotica environment. The plan was to test this with the Ipad & Iphone during christmas break, but I guess I have to bring this foreward and get rid of the pronto sooner then expected
