He has a serial port script that no longer works. I suspect the problem is with the cited differences of serial.match()/receive() where an outstanding match()/receive() operation can be cancelled if 2nd operation is submitted.
hello sir i have a qes for you , if you can help me with : i have a script for home alarm wich runs fine on the 7.2.2. firmware but when i upgrade for 7.3.3 firmware the script is not working i recieve allways "serial error " i am using the rate of valeus ???? i sent philips few time mail but no answer yet can you help me with this issue
Yes it's probably the issue you posted regarding the serial communication. I suspect more and more of iffues liek this will come up.
It's funny, because it is better to use asynhrohous communications, so you preserve the responsiveness of the remote. But if you use it, you shoot yourself in the knee. :)
I've been thinking of a FIFO buffer to handle my rs-232 comms, as philips did not implement it, but I'm not still sure if I'll do it.
Philips has something like this in the Denon 232 module. They have a timed send/receive scheduler. However, what it does not do is to peel off multiple messages that might be emitted in response to a single command. Channel volume control on Denon is one example.
